Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday August 10th 2024

August 9th 2024, 2:40pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

We are back at The Valley for weekend racing after a few months off, and punters will be keen to flock to the popular course. Race 1 starts at 12:20pm (AEST), with the last of nine concluding at 5:10pm (AEST). There hasn’t been any rain around Melbourne during the week and gallopers will be running on a predicted Soft6 surface, with the Travis Robinson Cup looking to be the race of the day.

Brendan Bunworth offers his three best bets for Moonee Valley below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips this Saturday!

Ladbrokes

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, August 10th 2024

Race 1: Ladbroke It Handicap - 12:20pm (AEST)

(1) Electric Impulse gets the gun draw here in barrier 2 and from that barrier she should settle slightly more forward in this race, approximately in a midfield position.

She closed off nicely for a 3rd at Hillside last start and if she can handle the tighter circuit here, she should then be prominent at the end of the race. She hasn’t hit the winners circle this prep but I expect her to win one soon before being turned out for a spell.

(3) Roadie likes Soft tracks and scored well last time at Hillside on a rain affected track. If it rains on the day then her winning chances increase. She has won 2 from 3 over this distance and Egan is 1 from 1 on top.

(5) Waimarie may lead this field and she has raced in harder races than this before. She likes Soft tracks and she actually goes down in weight after winning over the same distance last start.

(1) Electric Impulse

$3.50 (2 Units)

Race 7: Ranvet Travis Harrison Cup - 3:55pm (AEST)

(3) King Magnus is ready to strike again after running on nicely at his first try over 2000m last start. On that occasion he finished 5th but was beaten less than 2L in a busy finish. Houston stays on and at 1000 percent fitness he would have improved from that run. He will likely settle midfield and come out late but the Soft track is a positive and he does have a good winning strike rate despite not winning a race in the last 10 months.

(2) Smokin’ Romans has been running well without saluting and he returns to one of his favourite tracks. From barrier 7 he will go forward for Kennedy and he should be close up again but he hasn’t won in a long time.

(10) Alder will be a few lengths behind the top 2 selections but will be one of the best closers late. This is the right distance and a win won’t shock.

(3) King Magnus E/W

$6.50/$2.30 (1 Unit)

Race 9: Drummond Golf Handicap - 5:10pm (AEST)

(15) Wallenda gets weight relief here and has been strong to the line recently. He gets a good barrier in 2 and should position up nicely for Michael Dee in the run. He rarely gets beaten far in his races and with fitness on his side he does probably need to show his best for punters this time. He might start favourite in this and with this being his third run for the month he should be cherry ripe.

(14) Beour Bay can run a race at odds here after running a very good race three starts back at Mornington. This is his favourite distance and he has won on 3 occasions on the Soft.

(11) Pioneer River is very experienced over this distance and gets a good barrier in 3. The Soft track is the query but if there is a track upgrade by the last then he can win. Kah takes the ride for the first time.

(15) Wallenda

$4.50 (1 Unit)
