Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, November 19th
Taree Race 1 (Market)
Some would say that (5) Dawn Thunder has had enough chances to break the duck, I probably agree but she gets one more opportunity to be in the tip-sheet at career start 11. We know what we will get with her, she will jump and run and try to lead all the way. She placed her first two this campaign at Port Mac and at Grafton, this looks no harder. Last time at Grafton she led, got away early in the straight before being run down late. I love the fact she has had three weeks between runs and is coming back to the 1000m, drawn wide jockey Ray Spokes should be handlebars down early and gunning for the rail. The main danger, in the race as well as to try and hold the front, may be (10) Hilbern, she is first-up from the inside alley and will only need to miss the kick by a small margin and we should be able to cross.
Taree Race 3 (Market)
(8) Seraphiel is a 4yo grey mare making her debut for local trainer Wayne Wilkes. She has been to the trials once here back in October, was only fairly away and tucked away mid-field on the fence. She was not stoked up until very late in the straight when the leader had got away, she ran on well into second over the 1000m and looks perfectly suited going to the 1300m at her first start. The winner of that trial has since come out and been narrowly beaten up the Highway at PMaq, this looks an open race and she should get a soft run from the inside draw. I am willing to have something each-way at the 14’s to find out!
Terang Race 3 (Market)
(11) Kurame has been to the races four times, all at her first prep. The beetroot Williams trained filly placed at two of those, the only “poor” run was on a heavy track last start where she led and tired late. She hasn’t been seen at the official trials but did jump-out here back late last month. She jumped well, sat up on the speed, accelerated well hitting the front but was run down late. She still looked strong enough through the line and looks to have come back well. This doesn’t look a strong maiden against the girls, if she can lead or sit outside the speed and control the tempo, she can come back a winner.
Terang Race 6 (Market)
(6) The Stylist is going to SP in red figures, but she looks a steal at about the 9/10 ($1.90) that is currently being quoted. She resumed at Ballarat in a tough maiden, was behind the speed before getting shuffled back and wider and chased well but didn’t really ever looked likely. She then went to Ararat for what looked an easy kill. She started very short in the betting SP’ing at $1.35 on the VOP. She had gate two, today’s rider Jarrod Fry got her away well to lead, kicked away around the bend and cruised home to win by 8 lengths! Average horses don’t do that, regardless of the horses that are chasing them. Stepping up to 7 furlongs, this BM58 looks the ideal stepping stone to going on to better races than this. The inside gate looks the only hurdle, she handled the same track condition with ease last time, if she doesn’t get crossed early, load up again in the run at the $1.50!
