Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Sunday, August 11th.
We finish off the weekend of racing with meetings at Bendigo and Wagga this Sunday, and Luke Krahe has provided his best bets for each track below!
Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, August 11th
Bendigo Race 4 (Market)
(1) Davelliom has been to the races 11 times and still yet to break the duck. He was at the 2000m three back and ran on hard at Echuca. He then went to the city and was outclassed against his own age group before dropping back in grade to maiden level at Echuca and back to the mile. He stuck on well in a race that has already produced a winner since, you could tell that he was looking for further. He steps up to the 2400m today on a big track, he doesn’t have a lot of brilliance but if he gets the back of the right horse hew will run over the top of them. (3) Hanaki Warrior will start near the top of the betting but he has been runner-up at his last 5 runs. Still a maiden after 37 starts, he will be up on the speed and may look the winner at some stage in the straight, but happy to take him on and just always finds one better.
Wagga Race 2 (Market)
I expect that there will be some opposition to (2) Katatonic as he is still a maiden after 13 races and does have to come off the Acton track last start back onto the turf today. He has been very consistent of late placing at his last four runs, he has shown his versatility and maps to get the perfect run here. This looks easier than his recent competition, his last two runs have been similar where he has showed plenty of determination after sitting three-wide without cover and still having the audacity to be in it at the finish. He draws well here and should be camped on the leaders, has placed 3 of 5 here at the track and should be there to pounce early in the straight. His main opposition in the betting will be the Tumut trained gelding (8) Billo Road who gets the blinkers off today. He has been up for an eternity, has a poor SP profile and barring his last start placing where he had every possible chance, has not really looked like getting that first win. He looks a huge lay and expect him to drift alarmingly.
Wagga Race 4 (Market)
Obviously, there is not going to be much form over the today’s trip of 3800m (not on the flat anyway), I expect this to be one of those races where there will be 200m between first and last at the finish. (1) Baby Jack won over 2500m on a heavy track two starts back, he gave them a start and a brilliant ride saw him pick them off nearer the inside and finish off strong for an easy win. The heavy track that day showed that he can handle todays conditions and that further should be ok, but still a little bit of a guessing game getting this far out in trip. He then went to Narrandera back in trip and lumped the big weight, he never looked the winner after getting well back but there was a lot to like about the way he got through the line. Hopefully he is saved for one run, he may be too quick for them at the back end of this marathon, provided he stays the trip. Should be a fun race to watch no doubt!
