Horse Racing Tips: Monday, December 9th
Tuncurry Race 1 (Market)
(2) The Deel Is Dun was only fair at her first two runs this prep, she then went to Muswellbrook in a harder race than this last time and was a real eye-catcher. She struggled to stay with them early, came very wide approaching the turn and ran on hard over the last furlong into second. She didn’t really look like winning but it was a big effort to make up so much ground from where she was, especially after swinging wide. She gets out to the 2100m, Gibbons retains the ride and if she can settle a little closer in the run, should be too strong late. This is certainly the easiest race she has contested this time in. I expect her to be very well backed.
(2) The Deel Is Dun
$2.30
Tuncurry Race 3 (Market)
(4) Casino Delight is an interesting runner that has been to the races 7 times. She was formerly trained by Jerome Hunter and placed at 4 of her seven starts. She has only had one run this prep, she was well supported at Pakenham into favourite, led and was very weak late. She has since left the stable and now makes Port Macquarie her home under the eye of Graham Payne and his small team. She had been good at the jump-outs prior to that first-up failure, she has the speed so we are taking her a little n trust coming back to what looks an easier maiden. I would like to see some money for her. (1) Black Star Bowie will probably start the favourite off his nice return at Gosford late last month. He jumps from 900m to the 6 furlongs and should settle closer, happy to take him on though as he has been very costly to punters. He was beaten at under $5 at each of his four starts, he may just be a non-winner?
Wellington Race 4 (Market)
(2) Five Star Gal has been up for a long time but is racing really well at the back end of this campaign. She won a Class1 and Maiden at Dubbo three back and then placed at Warren in a Class2. She was well in the market last tiume at Orange in a harder race than this and found herself a little further back. She ran on well past a few in the straight and just missed the placings, this looks considerably easier. She gets the blinkers back on and the ear muffs off with the handy 1.5kg claim. The betting tells us early that it is a two-horse race between her and (1) Dictation, I expect her to get further back in the run and can see Five Star Gal being backed into a clear-cut favourite.
Gatton Race 1 (Market)
A small field but very competitive affair in which I thought that (4) Bambalam was entitled to be favourite. He is still a maiden after 8 starts in which he has placed at three of them. He was been racing in much harder races than this, last time at Toowoomba he took on the 3YO’s at BM62 level and started double figure odds. He showed good sped to lead and was headed early in the straight but stuck on well. He has showed that tactical pace in most of his starts, a good trait to have around here. If he can fins the top and dictate, he won’t be racing against maiden performers next start.
