Horse Racing Tips: Monday, December 2nd
Sapphire Coast Race 4 (Market)
(1) Hard Core is a very consistent gelding, he has placed at his last four runs and gets an easier assignment today. Both our bets at the Sapphire Coast are from the Joe Cleary barn with 4kg claiming apprentice Ellen Hennessy. She has a great book of rides today and this should be her best day at the races so far. Hard Core has versatility but at this trip I expect him to be looking for the front early from the good draw. He wasn’t the best away last start at Queanbeyan but drove through to get behind the leaders, was a little flat footed but kept coming to get past the leaders but was grabbed late by a couple from the back. With a better getaway today I expect that the jock will be able to push forward and lead for a long way.
Sapphire Coast Race 6 (Market)
(1) Kiss My Swiss looks the banker for the day, she will start deep in the red but deservedly so. I am happy to take anything better than $1.50 about her back in this type of race. At her only start here at the track, she carried 60.5kg to an easy all the way win, back in February. She had a couple more runs before going to the paddock, resuming at Queanbeyan just 8 days ago. That was in a harder race than this, she had the inside alley and kicked through to lead and never looked like getting run down. A couple of things stand out as potential dangers. Firstly she is down to carry 65.5kgs but gets a 4kg claim, so she will only have 61.5kg on her back. She has the inside gate which can be tricky over 900m if you don’t do everything right, she has had that gate in three of her last five starts and led at all of them, so we expect her to get away cleanly again. The times I am most confident with the 4kg claimers when they can just jump and run, that’s the likely scenario here.
Taree Race 2 (Market)
(11) Pinnacle Power has had one run back this campaign and it was here at his home track, he clearly races best here with all 8 placings at Taree, his record away from this venue is 11 starts without taking home a cheque. He settled well back in that first-up run, made some ground between runners eventually getting into third in a race where it was more favourable to be up on the speed. It has proven to be a good form reference with three subsequent winners coming through it. Digger McLellan gets the ride. He has tactical speed and expect him to be ready to go after six weeks off, hopefully is ridden positively. Take him each-way. I expect the debutant from the Claire Cunningham stable with Aaron Bullock riding (1) Leslie James to be well supported after trialing well recently.

Taree Race 5 (Market)
There looks to be a stack of speed in this as you would expect over the short trip, I love the way that (3) Victory Vibes maps. He has enough speed to lead off the inside but hopefully the jock just has a look and assesses the situation without getting into a battle early. He was stuck three wide no cover before dropping off when fresh at Scone in a harder race, he was really good when leading all the way at Muswellbrook in a similar race to this before going to the paddock. Either leading or with the cold sit on the rail behind the front-runner, he will be in the finish.
