Horse Racing Tips: Friday, November 8th
Kempsey Race 2 (Market)
(6) Serbelloni is going to be in the red and is our banker for the day, I understand that tomato sauce odds are not for everyone but he really does look a put-in take-out job. Some will say that as a 14-start maiden the tomato sauce odds are not warranted but this really looks his race. He has good speed and should be carving across from out wide, he was unable to lead last start in a harder maiden at Port Macquarie and was looking for runs, eventually getting out and hitting the line only 0.18 lengths from the winner, he was most unlucky. I expect that the state’s best provincial rider Aaron Bullock just controls the race from outside the leader here today and he shoots for home early in the short straight. Some say “odds on look on”, but there can be as much, if not more, value in horses in this price range.
Kempsey Race 4 (Market)
(7) Upper East Side is the winner of 2 of his 6 career starts, he has had three runs in this prep. He led for a long way resuming at Wyong, well beaten but placed in a race that has proven a good form reference since. He then went to Muswellbrook, was perfectly ridden by today’s jock and although the margin wasn’t large, ran on well for a good win. There have also been two subsequent winners come from that race as well. Stepping up to a harder Class 2 at the graveyard that is Hawkesbury last time, he didn’t jump well and was stuck three-wide without cover just off the speed. Pushed four-wide approaching the straight, he was the first beaten off that tough run. Back to a BM66 and a small field today, drawn the 2 and Bullock back on which looks a huge jockey change, he should be on the speed for a long way. (1) San Marco looks the class runner of the field but he has to lump 62kg from the outside barrier in the small field, he placed at Doomben last start but was beaten out of sight in a race that he was favoured in being close to the speed. Lay lay lay.
(7) Upper East Side
$2.60
Warrnambool Race 4 (Market)
(6) Tavino will be lining up for start three today, he debuted at Geelong back in late September and battled on ok after a torrid run where he was stuck four-wide no cover for most of the race. HE then went to Hamilton last time and showed tactical speed, sat up outside the leader and although he had every chance, he stuck on well enough into third. He stays at the 1400m again back at his home track, should race handy again and meets a similar race to last start where he was well backed.
Rockhampton Race 3 (Market)
(2) Barachiel has been most consistent throughout his career, he has been to the races 35 times and has only missed a cheque on ten of those occasions. He resumed here at his home track two weeks ago in a similar race, sat back last before making a run early in the straight. The long run home is a beauty here at Rocky, he moved up stylishly and went past them at the furlong pole for a comfortable win. His second-up record is good, he was a winner here at the track and distance last campaign following a fresh run. He will be giving them a start again but gets a soft run on the rails and only needs even luck. (6) Marway is a track specialist and will probably SP as favourite, but I am happy to take him on fresh. He has good tactical speed but there should be enough pressure mid-race to see him tire late.
