Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Friday, December 13th.
There's a stack of racing around Australia this afternoon, with eight meetings during the day and a further two under lights.
Moe, Geelong and Scone are three of the daytime meetings scheduled, and Luke Krahe has provided his best bets for each of them below!
Horse Racing Tips: Friday, December 13th
Moe Race 6
(2) Seminoles is having his third start this prep, he resumed at Ballarat on the heavy track, settled back in the field before running on hard to get up late for career win number one. He then had to have his first race out of that grade last time at Seymour in a harder race than this back on a good surface. He was just off the speed and raced very flat. I am willing to forgive that run and get back on him for a few reasons. He goes back in grade from a 64 to a 58. He was also poor at his first prep when second-up and improved to place third-up. And finally, he gets back on a rain affected surface, he has a win and a placing from his two goes on soft or heavy. I don’t think he will be wanted in the betting so wait until late for the best price when the % drops.
Geelong Race 1
I am really excited to see the debut of the Maher/Eustace filly (8) How Wowmantic. She has not been to the official trials (but who does in Victoria) but her latest jump-out was brilliant. She jumped well before easing whilst a runner took out a huge lead. She gave that leader about 7 lengths into the straight, was not heeled up at all and looked like she was just cantering as she went by it late. The rest of the field were all pushed along in the straight and made no ground, admittedly there didn’t look any world-beaters in that field and the leader of that trial has not done much since resuming.
Geelong Race 2
(6) Mountain Ibis has been to the races twice, he had trialed well before his debut at Ararat but was very easy in the betting after opening favourite. He settled behind the speed and appeared to have every chance but just found a few too good for him. He then went to Wodonga and again sat behind the speed, he chased hard into second with a big margin back to third. He again steps up in trip today at start three out to 1300m which looks to suit, he gets his third different rider, this time Billy Egan and hopefully will be ridden to try and lead. If he can and dictate the tempo, get them rolling along about 600m from home he will be hard to catch.
Scone Race 4
(11) Andaluna is a Kris Lees trained filly that is having her third start today. She debuted at Muswellbrook over 900m and was never sighted before coming here to Scone at her second start. Again she was a mile back in the run, she saved ground around the turn and ran o well into third. She was well beaten and never looked likely but it showed she is crying out for more ground. She gets an extra furlong today out to the 1300m and should be fully wound up, Gibbons takes the ride again and hopefully he can settle a little closer. He was very good through the line last start and expect him to be running on over the top here. Watch for any money for (6) Vulcan for the new yard and debutant (10) Café Royal has trialed well.
