Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Cranbourne, where eight races have been set down. The track as of Monday evening is a Soft 5 and I don't suspect the rating will improve too much.

Cranbourne Racing Tips: Wednesday October 2nd 2024
Race 2: Get Your Pinker Pinker Tickets Maiden Plate 1200m - 1.35pm AEST
Looks a race in two but I am siding with (6) Under My Thumb. I have been hot on this mare since before her first start when she jumped out super at Flemington. Has been runner up in both career outings, both at Geelong, and each time she has been beaten by some handy types. Lands on speed and will take running down.
(11) Exuberance should appreciate a rise in trip for Mark Walker. She debuted over 1140m at Geelong where she got a fair way out of her ground but I really liked the way she found the line late in the piece behind Chewing Gum, who was plain at Sandown on Saturday, but I do think that form reads well enough for this.
(12) Magnani is a well-bred filly that is on debut. Her jumpout work at Flemington hasn't been too bad to my eye and the positive lead is that there has been early specking for it. The stable can get them to fire on debut, especially around this time of year, so watch the market.

Race 6: Celebrate Christmas @ Southside Handicap 1200m - 3.55pm AEST
This is a good race with some promising animals but I find (2) Blazing Harry as the most fascinating runner on the card. He looked a Caulfield Guineas horse this time last year but injury has stopped him in his tracks. He has come back and I thought his recent trial was the standout of the session. I reckon the stable asked Beau Mertens to squeeze him and see what's there, and the ability shown as a juvenile is there, and in spades. Very sharp display and confident he'll go through his grades.
(1) Red Galaxy is a son of Stratum Star for Greg Eurell that resumes. He did nice things as a 3YO, his last run being at Flemington when placing behind Craig. He has looked strong in jumpout work at Cranbourne, he'll press forward and take running down.
Phillip Stokes tried (5) The Mansman as a stayer but I think this prep he is being trained with more speed in the legs and the early signs are quite promising. Not sure he beat much first up at Sale but the way he gave them a start and a beating, gee he was impressive. Harder here, but off the return, he commands respect.

Race 8: Ladbrokes Cranbourne Cup Nov 23 Handicap 1400m - 5.05pm AEST
I think (8) Polanco is the best each way gamble on the program. Last time he won, I was still in nappies, but he is racing well at present, his latest run being at this track/distance when off speed and kept finding the line in a really good effort behind Delivering when second. Knocking on the door and this race, as a whole, isn't overly deep.
(9) Inexorable was somewhat of a milk drinker when last in work but he has returned a different horse this time in, winning a maiden at Bairnsdale where he looked a moral on paper and duly saluted, winning quite comfortably. Confidence is up, he can go on with it.
(1) Austrata looks like he is enjoying life under the care of Reece Goodwin, who is very good with a tried horse. He resumed over 1400m at Sale and closed off with purpose from off the speed when second to Milbrae. Stays at 1400m, but will be strong late and is a knockout hope.
(8) Polanco E/W
