Canterbury Racing Tips: Wednesday August 28th 2024
Race 4: Brazen Beau @ Darley BM72 1100m – 3:10pm AEST
(3) Hi Dubai is a 5YO gelding who drops back in grade and back to 1100m now where he won nicely two back. Far from disgraced last start in tougher grade and over 1200m but tired the last 100m. Back to 1100m now looks ideal and gets back onto the dry ground. James McDonald jumps into the saddle and expect to see him hit the front and dictate start to finish here.
(6) Mawjood was dominant in a win first up over 1100m on the heavy deck and then battled on nicely second up to finish second in open grade. This is slightly easier now and drops back to 100m. Untested on the dry ground. Main danger.
(8) Party Doll is a 5YO Mare who gets back onto the dry ground where she does her best work. She won nicely two back over the 1000m before holding on for second last start in this grade. No match for the winner there though. Deserves another crack at odds here.
Hi Dubai Win

Race 5: Schweppes BM72 1900m - 3:45pm AEST
(1) Go Troppo is a 7YO who goes well over this trip and was good in defeat last start over 1800m and in tougher grade (Winner was too good!). He is hard fit and gets back on top of the ground now with T. Berry remaining in the saddle. Watch the market.
(4) Monfelicity was plain last start, this mare, but prior to that she was hooning home on the heavy deck and almost got to the leaders there over 1800m. Remains at 1900m and if we see any kind of effort like the run two back she will be again hooning home and the extra 100m may be key. Hard fit fourth up now.
(8) The Englishman was an absolute moral beaten two back over this trip/grade where he was held up at a crucial time and when he managed to get clear air he motored home and only narrowly missed out. Went onto BM78 grade last start and again got caught in traffic around the bend and had to make a rails run which was the worst going of the track, so made minimal ground as the swoopers on the outside pounced. Happy to have again here back in grade with J-Mac in the saddle.
The Englishman Win

Race 7: James Squire 1550m BM72 – 4:55pm AEST
(3) Noble Conqueror is a 5YO who has been terrific of late without scoring a win. Most recently he was enormous to the line and looked the winner, but was headbobbed out of it. Prior to that he came from near last and showed a great turn of foot to finish third, but the front two were too hard to pick up as they had a big headstart. Back to BM72 grade now and taking on midweek horses again. J-Mac gets back on board and I expect a well deserved break through win here off previous form.
(9) High Dandy is a 4YO who put on a demolition job last start to win by almost 7L in a class 1 over 1500m. Remains at similar trip now, but rises in class. Must be considered after that first up effort. Watch the market.
(10) It’s a Knockout was a winner on debut before heading to Saturday grade second up where he was only picked up on the line to finish second. Gaps to third there though. Draws another nice gate and expect her to be dictating the race again. Fitter for the run and will only be improving. Top hope.
Noble Conqueror Win
