Welcome back Monday Night Football! Due to the apparent birthday of the newly crowned King, it’s a long weekend in New South Wales, and that means a game of football on Monday afternoon. And it’s a traditional rivalry, with the Bulldogs taking on the Eels at Accor Stadium. The Eels will be looking to continue their recent run of form, as they’ve won two in a row, whilst the Bulldogs are aiming for some breathing space at the bottom of the ladder.
NRL Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels
Accor Stadium, Monday 12th June, 4:00pm (AEST)
The Bulldogs are coming off a tight loss in round 14, going down 25-24 to the Roosters. Whilst on the surface that looks handy, a look at the Roosters form over the past couple of months indicates otherwise. The Bulldogs managed to match the Roosters for the most part stats wise, however 37 missed tackles ended up costing the Belmore club. They now sit 15th on the ladder, and with their league worst for and against, need a win this week.
The Eels are off the bye, however had won two in a row prior to the bye. In round 13, they nudged past the Cowboys 24-16 at home. They probably should have won by more, however 14 errors hurt the Eels’ ability to really go on with it.
The Eels opened 8.5-point favourites for this clash, however the losses of Dylan Brown and Wiremu Greig has seen money come in on the Bulldogs, with the line now sitting at 6.5. Numbers wise, I tend to agree with where the market is.
The total opened 42.5, and has been bet up slightly to 43.5, but not a whole lot of movement. I make a fair 45.5, so I don’t mind an over in this game. However, in terms of totals, I will look to the Eels team total and hit the over. Depending on where you look, you can find a 23.5 for the Eels team total, and with the way Mitch Moses has been kicking this season, 4 tries gives you a great chance at the over. Save for a poor loss in round 14 last season, the Eels have averaged 35 points per game over their past 5 matches with the Bulldogs. The Eels have scored the third most points per game this season, and they should eat against this Bulldogs defence.
I will also have a small play on a big Eels win here. The Eels have dominated the recent matchups with the Bulldogs (apart from round 14 2022), and with Mitch Moses looking to stamp his name on the #7 NSW Jersey, I can see a big game for him here. The Bulldogs have lost 4 games this season by 13+, equal most in the league, and I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see another big loss on the cards here.
