After the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix last weekend due to severe weather, the circus is back for the Monaco Grand Prix. The jewel in the crown, the Monaco Grand Prix is one of, if not the most famous car race in the world, and every driver wants to stand atop the podium in this race, especially.
After coming out of the cancelled Grand Prix last weekend even, let’s win some money this week.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Review
Nothing to see here, with the race being called off before a wheel was turned. Looking back to the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, the race was won by Sergio Perez, after Ferrari bungled the race horribly. Leclerc and Sainz were dominating the race, which started in heavy rain, however Ferrari left them both out too long, with Perez pitting early for intermediate tyres, before getting to the front and never being headed.
Ferrari have to once again like their chances this weekend, but there might be another team snapping at the heels of the Red Bull and Ferrari this week…
Monaco Grand Prix Preview
Is this the race we finally see a car other than the Red Bull take the chequered flag? Whilst Red Bull will no doubt still be fast, and more than likely the quickest package around the tight streets of Monte Carlo, their biggest advantage won’t assist them anywhere near as much at the street circuit. The ridiculous advantage of the Red Bull straight-line speed, especially when aided by DRS, is almost a cheat code this season. But here in Monaco, this advantage will be all but nullified.
So, do we look elsewhere? Yes, and no. I really like Sergio Perez here. He has shown a tremendous ability at street circuits over the years, and in particular this season. He won here last year, and if he can hook up a lap in qualifying, he should be a real shout. But the bookies agree, with Perez’s price far shorter than normal. If Perez and Red Bull look quick in practice, I might throw a unit on him to win later in the week.
So, we move on to Ferrari, and Fernando Alonso. With their form here last year, Ferrari has the runs on the board. They appeared the quickest car throughout the weekend last year, only to throw it all away with some horrible decisions. Can we trust that, if they were near the front again, that they will make the right call? It’s difficult, but I feel good enough about the Ferrari / Leclerc package to put a small stake on him. As for Alonso, I would love to see him win, but I’ll stick with him to make the podium for a 5th time in 6 races this season.
Further down the field, I like Lando Norris to score points this weekend. The McLaren has shown itself to be good in the slow speed, whilst struggling in a straight-line. Monaco then, should set up perfectly for the pair. He has a good record here which helps, and I’ll have a small flutter on the Brit to get his season back on track here.
