NBL Championship Series Game 4 Preview & Betting Tips
New Zealand Breakers vs Sydney Kings
Sunday March 12, 4pm AEDT, Spark Arena
The Sydney Kings were too strong for the New Zealand Breakers in Game 3, showing exactly why they are the defending champions and finished top of the standings this season. Despite trailing by four points at the main break, the Kings finished very comfortably 23-point winners on the back of an utterly dominant 48-21 second half.
There were some serious injury concerns surrounding both of the Kings All-NBL First Team recipients in Xavier Cooks and Derrick Walton Jr. but both were able to play out the game and have big contributions. In fact, Walton Jr. was awarded Player of the Game for his all-around performance (12 points, six rebounds, nine assists).
The Kings starting five were all fantastic and contributed evenly with 10-15 points each, while Angus Glover and Jaylin Galloway provided some spark of the bench when combining for 20 points.
For the Breakers, none of their stars could really get going and their most impactful player was arguably Rayan Rupert who finished with 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Barry Brown Jr. struggled with his shot once again when going 3-12 from the floor, and Jarrell Brantley was limited to 25 minutes after fouling out.
The stage is now set for a thrilling Game 4 at Spark Arena, and you can be sure the home fans will be doing everything they can to get the Breakers over the line. Doing so will be no easy feat however, as the Kings have won their last two trips to Auckland, including Game 2 exactly one week ago.
The underdog has won 2/3 games in the Championship series which has made it tough to predict a winner. In saying that, we’ve managed to hit twice for +1.83 units in the series to date.
The common theme for games played between these teams at Spark Arena is that it becomes a genuine grind - eight of their last nine meetings in Auckland have gone under the total points line. This is a trend I expect to continue on Sunday with so much on the line.
