AFL Fremantle vs Geelong Betting Tips
Optus Stadium, Thursday 15th July, 8.10pm (AEST)
The Dockers have won three of their last four games to jump up into the top eight and they will be looking to claim a big scalp on Thursday night as they take on the third placed Geelong Cats.
Match Prediction
The Dockers have looked fantastic recently but their three wins in the last four weeks have all come against bottom five sides in the Suns, Magpies and Hawks. They will get a real test on Thursday night, if they can stand up to the Cats and earn a win at home, their spot in the eight is truly deserved.
Fremantle are getting players back from injury at the right time of year. They now only have a few players on their extended injury list, and should get key forward Matt Taberner back in the next few weeks. Ruckman Sean Darcy is in a rich vein of form at the moment, as is skipper Nat Fyfe, who will go head to head with his long time contemporary Patrick Dangerfield on Thursday night.
After a disappointing loss to the Lions a few weeks ago, the Cats have bounced back with two wins on the trot, downing the Bombers by 41 points before beating the Blues by 26 points. They are still without star forward Jeremy Cameron, and midfielder Mitch Duncan, but apart from those two players they will have a near full strength team to pick from on Thursday night.
The Cats start as 8.5 point favourites here, which I think is bang on the money given the travel factor here and the Dockers recent run of form. I think this is a pretty close game from start to finish, so I’m not really interested in this line, I do like the unders though.
The unders ran rampant on the weekend, hitting 8/9 games and it seems as though the coaches have finally figured out the new rules and how to exploit them defensively. The Cats have allowed just 50.5 points per game over the last two weeks while the Dockers have allowed just 63.

Going back to the well with Tom Stewart this week. The bookies keep offering $1.20+ for him to get 20 touches and I'll keep taking it. Has only missed the 20 touch mark once this season and has had 25 in the last two weeks. Sean Darcy has been arguably the form ruckman of the competition over the past month or so and had a monster game against the Hawks on the weekend, racking up 25 touches, 27 hitouts and 9 marks. Has had 15+ disposals in 9 of his last 11 games.
I’ve noticed over the last few weeks in the absence of Matt Taberner just how deep forward Rory Lobb has been playing. He had 7 shots on goal on the weekend against the Hawks, kicking 4.3 and in his last 6 games, he averages almost four shots on goal.
