NBL Round 20 Betting Tips
New Zealand Breakers vs Tasmania JackJumpers
Friday 7:30pm AEST, MyState Bank Arena
The Breakers have had a horror season and it’s only getting worse as they enter this clash having lost each of their last eight and 12 of their last 13 games. To make matters worse, star player Yanni Wetzell has been released from his contract for the remainder of the season as he pursues a career in Europe.
The JackJumpers continue to surprise us all with their strong play in their inaugural NBL campaign. They were winners in their most recent game at home against the Taipans, which made it wins in seven of their last nine games. The JackJumpers remain a legitimate chance of making the playoffs this season, but will need a few things to go their way in the remaining rounds.
The JackJumpers are 3-0 against the Breakers this season and that will obviously give them a lot of confidence ahead of this do or die clash. They’ve won their three games against their upcoming opponent by an average margin of 12.3 points and with how both teams are trending at the moment, I’m expecting somethings similar on Friday night.

Melbourne United vs Brisbane Bullets
Saturday 5:30pm AEST, John Cain Arena
Melbourne United went through a bit of a slump a few weeks ago when they lost three of five games, but have bounced back the way you’d expect with wins in each of their last three, all of which were on the road. They now return home to John Cain Arena in search of their 19th win of the season against just 7 losses.
It hasn’t been the fruitful season the Bullets were expecting considering the amount of star power they have on their team, but they haven’t thrown it in just yet and continue to remain competitive. They come into Round 20 having won three of their last six games, which brought up their 10th win of the season against 16 losses.
United have won both meetings against the Bullets this season, once at home and once on the road. They’re clearly the much better team and are the deserving short-priced favourites ahead of their third clash. However, the current line of 13.5 points has been covered by the Bullets in each of their last eight meetings and I think they can cover it once again here.

Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans
Saturday 8pm AEST, RAC Arena
The Wildcats find themselves in a form slump at the worst possible time and it’s starting to look as though they might cough up a top four spot as a result. They enter this round having lost four of their last five games and alarmingly, all of those have been on their home deck. Still, they remain one game clear of the JackJumpers and have the percentage over them as well.
The Taipans have had an injury-riddled campaign and that’s cost them any hope of making some noise this season. However, they have been in solid form over the last couple of weeks with four wins from their last seven games, which has seen them jump into eighth spot in the standings with an 8-16 record.
Despite being in horrible form at the moment, the Wildcats will start as the huge favourites against the Taipans on Saturday night. While they should be able to negotiate the win, I believe the real value lies in the total points going under the current line of 168.5 points. Each of the Taipans last three games have fallen under that mark, while two of the Wildcats last three have done so. I’m expecting more of the same again.
