NRL Preview Round 4 Saturday Betting Tips
Eels vs Sea Eagles (Saturday, 6th June, 5:30pm AEST)
Super Saturday in Round 4 heads to Bankwest Stadium with an intriguing clash between the Eels and Sea Eagles. Both sides are in the top 8 and come off easy victories in Round 3. For the Eels, they travelled to Suncorp and cruised past the Broncos by 28 points. They couldn't have asked for a better start to the season after winning their first 3 games and that has them sitting at the top of the ladder. They also love playing at Bankwest as they've won 10 of 12 at the venue, which includes a 58-0 finals victory last season. In team news, they'll head into Saturday's clash with an unchanged lineup.
Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles started the new season with a comfortable victory over the Bulldogs by 26 points and they sit 6th on the ladder. Tom Trbojevic scored an early double and Manly pretty much dominated every facet of the game for the 80 minutes. So the key against Parramatta will be defensively shutting down their range of attacking weapons. There's also a bit extra motivation considering the Eels 32-16 win over them at this venue recently in Round 25 last season. Similarly to the Eels, the Sea Eagles are unchanged in Round 4 which is a great sign for Des Hasler after an injury-riddled 2019 season.
In the last 4 meetings between the two teams, high scoring contests have been the trend so we like the chances of the "points overs" this Saturday. In those 4 meetings, the total has easily beaten 40 points and each side has the ability to score 30+ points on their day, especially with the new rules providing a faster pace for playmakers to take advantage of tiring forwards.
Cowboys vs Sharks (Saturday, 6th June 7:35pm AEST)
It's the Cowboys up against the Sharks in North Queensland this Saturday night and the home side will look to build on last week's impressive performance. They continued their dominant record over the poor Titans with a 30-6 result and that win has them sitting 5th on the ladder. After struggling to score points in 2019, the Cowboys recruited well in the offseason and it's showing on the field. Especially, Valentine Holmes and Scott Drinkwater as they look dangerous with the ball in hand. Holmes will also be looking for a huge game against his former side. However, they have suffered a blow in team news as Jason Taumalolo will miss the clash with injury, so Francis Molo comes into the starting lineup and Gavin Cooper joins the bench.
The Sharks' season is quickly slipping away after an 0-3 start has them on the back foot in 2020. They didn't start well against the Tigers last week and it ultimately cost them in the 28-16 defeat. A trip to North QLD is not easy, but this is basically a must-win game for the Sharks at the moment. The task will be tougher without regular halfback Chad Townsend after a hamstring injury, so Matt Moylan will take his place in the halves. They also miss the go-forward of Andrew Fifita who remains on the sidelines with a calf/knee injury.
It's hard to look past the Cowboys on their home turf at the moment. Despite missing the go-forward of Taumalolo, the new stadium offers a fast pace and the Cowboys have the attacking weapons to copy a similar gameplan by the Tigers against the Sharks last week. The home side should also be motivated to end a 3 game losing streak against Cronulla, which includes a comeback win in Round 19 last season.
