2019-20 NBL Betting Tips: Round 8

November 19th 2019, 6:07pm, By: Jake Smit

The 2019-20 NBL season continues this weekend with Round 8. Action begins on Friday night, which will be the first of six games taking place this weekend. The best of the weekend looks to be the Saturday twilight clash between the Phoenix and the Kings, while the last of the round will be a Monday night game between LaMelo Ball’s Hawks and the Taipans.

We’ll be providing our expert betting tips for every NBL game this season, so make sure you check out our NBL Tips page regularly, as well as our NBA Tips page for some more great basketball betting tips. Good luck to everyone following!

NBL Round 8 Betting Tips

Brisbane Bullets vs Adelaide 36ers (Friday 7:30pm)

The Bullets lost their only game in Round 7 to fall back below .500 again on the season. Their 4-5 record currently has them in fifth spot on the ladder and in need of a bounce back victory. The 36ers managed to score a big road win on Monday night against Phoenix to snap a four-game losing streak. To say they needed that win is certainly an understatement. This is a fairly even matchup and we expect both teams to have even chances to win, however, getting a couple of points head start for the Sixers makes us lean towards them here.

Adelaide 36ers +2.5

SE Melbourne Phoenix vs Sydney Kings (Saturday 5:30pm)

As we just mentioned, Phoenix lost their Monday night fixture against the 36ers. Phoenix had more big contributions from Roberson and Creek who combined for nearly 50 points, but the lack of a third and fourth option on offence again cost them the win. On the other hand, the Kings just continue to tick over the win column. They’ve now won nine of their 10 games to date and don’t look like slowing anytime soon. Although they’re on the road here, we expect the Kings depth to get them a win against the top-heavy Phoenix.

Sydney Kings -3.5

Cairns Taipans vs Perth Wildcats (Saturday 8:00pm)

The Taipans got a much-needed win in Round 7 when they beat the Bullets at home. Kouat Noi was huge with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Snakes, leading them to their third win for the season. The Wildcats also had a successful Round 7 by winning both of their games. They’re now 8-3 on the season and look to be one of the key contenders yet again. These teams met just a couple of weeks ago and it was the Snakes who handed the Wildcats their biggest home loss in NBL history. They obviously match up well against the defending champs and now back on their home deck, we expect them to have a big chance to go 2-0 against them this season.

Cairns Taipans +4.5

$1.90

Melbourne United vs Brisbane Bullets (Sunday 3:00pm)

Melbourne United are the in-form team of the competition at the moment and have now won each of their last five games. In Round 7 they got the better of new rivals the Phoenix by one point at home, which gives them a 2-1 edge over them this season. As mentioned above, the Bullets are coming off a loss in Round 7 and will be looking to bounce back this weekend. They do have the ability to match it with the best teams when they’re on song and even if they aren’t playing at 100%, the 7.5 line gives them a great chance to cover.

Brisbane Bullets +7.5

$1.90

Adelaide 36ers vs New Zealand Breakers (Sunday 5:00pm)

The 36ers will be playing their second game of the round when they host the Breakers on Sunday night. They’ve been a bit of an enigma this season and haven’t been able to string good wins together, which has them currently sit outside the top four. The Breakers have been one of the big disappointments this season and are only percentage off the bottom of the ladder. They couldn’t match it with the Wildcats in Round 7 and have now lost four games on the spin. Although the 36ers have been inconsistent, we feel they don’t have to be at 100% to take care of the Breakers at the moment. We expect them to score a comfortable win here.

Adelaide 36ers -4.5

$1.90

Illawarra Hawks vs Cairns Taipans (Monday 7:30pm)

The final game of the round should be an entertaining one between the Hawks and the Taipans. LaMelo Ball has come into his own in the league and is keeping his Hawks side a lot more competitive than a lot of people thought they’d be without Aaron Brooks. His three-ball is finally starting to drop, which has added another layer to an already impressive repertoire for an 18-year-old. Interestingly, both of the Hawks wins this season have come against the Taipans, which clearly shows they match up well against them. Now back on their home deck, we see no reason why they won’t make it 3/3.
