2017 PGA Tour Arnold Palmer Invitational Betting Tips
Where: Bay Hill – Orlando, Florida
When: Thursday 16th, March (10:35pm AEST first tee)
It will be a very emotional week in Orlando. Arnold Palmer passed away in September and this tournament will be a celebration of his life and career.
Bay Hill has been very generous to the Australians over the years. The course record belongs to Greg Norman (1984) and Adam Scott (2014) who both recorded 10 under 62’s. The defending champion is also an Aussie. Jason day held off Kevin Chappell to win by one shot in 2016. Chappell bogeyed the final hole to miss out on a playoff.
Jason Day is not only the defending champion, he is also the top ranked golfer competing this week. However, he will not be starting as the tournament favourite. That honour will go to Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson (both ranked in the top 5 in world rankings). It’s a shame that top ranked players such as Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson won’t be playing, but the field is much stronger then recent weeks.
Rory McIlroy
Can’t look past Rory this week. He will be fresh after taking last week off. He looked good in Mexico finishing T7th which included a second round 65. It’s just his 3rd start at Bay Hill. In 2015 he finished T11th (11 under) and last year he closed with an impressive final round of 7 under (65). So, he should come into this week with plenty of confidence.
Tip: Rory McIlroy to win - $8 at CrownBet
Brandt Snedeker
This course has suited Snedeker in the past. His last three starts have resulted in a T36th, T13th and T8th. He finished very strong in Mexico. His final two rounds of 65 and 66 catapulted him into a top 10 finish (T7th).
Tip: Brandt Snedeker to win - $34 at CrownBet
+ Snedeker to finish top 10 - $3.50 at CrownBet
Jamie Lovemark
Lovemark is a solid roughie choice this week. He finished T6th here last year and started with back to back 69’s at the Valspar last week. He ranks good in two important stats this week. Driving distance and Par 5 scoring (26th and 28th).
Tip: Jamie Lovemark to win - $151 at CrownBet
+ Lovemark to finish top 20 - $6.50 at CrownBet
