2017-18 NBL Round 14 Preview & Betting Tips
Perth Wildcats Vs Melbourne United (Friday, 12th January, 9:30pm AEDT)
The Perth Wildcats will host Melbourne United on Friday Night in a blockbuster top of the table clash. The Wildcats are coming off a Round where they split their 2 road games, by losing to the 36ers and defeating the Kings. They are still top of the table, but only by percentage and will come up against United who are breathing down their neck. The Wildcats have won both encounters between the teams this season, but have been a little out of form lately.
Melbourne United are all of the sudden the form team of the competition on the back of 6 straight wins, highlighted by their huge come from behind victory against the Hawks last Saturday. Chris Goulding is back in form and new recruit Carrick Felix was superb in his second game for the club, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
A lot of punters believe that these two will be facing off in the Grand Final and we completely agree. This game will be entertaining and should go right down to the wire. We are taking United at the line, but wouldn’t be surprised if they win.
TIP: Melbourne United at the line (+4.5) - $1.90 at Ladbrokes
Sydney Kings Vs Adelaide 36ers (Saturday, 13th January, 5:30pm AEDT)
The Kings are in absolute shambles at the moment and hold a dismal 5-15 record, which is easily the worst in the league. They are out of playoffs contention and it’s showing in the way they go about it. Jerome Randle looks frustrated out there, as he’s continuing posting 20+ points with no help from his teammates.
The 36ers have made a great run over the past couple of weeks and find themselves on a 3-game winning streak. They have won all three encounters with the Kings this season and will be looking to make it a sweep on Saturday Night. Mitch Creek returned from injury last weekend in the win over the Wildcats, which only furthered their credentials as a title contender once the playoffs come around.
There’s a lot of value in this game with Adelaide only given a 2.5-point headstart. We’ll be backing them to the hills to make it a season sweep over Andrew Gaze’s men.
TIP: Adelaide 36ers at the line (-2.5) - $1.86 at CrownBet
Illawarra Hawks Vs New Zealand Breakers (Saturday, 13th January, 7:30pm AEDT)
As mentioned above the Illawarra Hawks are coming off a potential season-ending defeat against United last round. They led by nearly 20 points during the third quarter, but eventually fell by 2 points. They are now 3 games outside of a playoff berth and would need to win most of their remaining games to have a chance of featuring in the post-season.
The Breakers have steadied the ship after a disappointing couple of weeks that resulted in them losing top spot in the standings. They are now a more than respectable 12-6 for the season and will travel to take on the fifth placed Hawks on Saturday Night. The Breakers are 5-3 on the road, which is the best ranked away record in the competition this season.
We are expecting the Breakers to win this one fairly comfortably. They are surprisingly going in as a slight underdog, which we’ll be taking full advantage of.
TIP: New Zealand Breakers at the line (+1.5) - $1.90 at Sportsbet
