2016 PGA Dean & Deluca Invitational
Where: Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, Texas
When: Thursday 26th May (10:00pm first tee)
Purse: $6,700,000
For those of you that followed last week’s tips you will be well aware that we lost in a playoff. We had Brooks Koepka at 29-1 and on the 14th hole in the final round he made a bad bogey and he snowballed out of control from there. He managed to make the playoff against Sergio Garcia but on the first playoff hole Koepka hit his tee shot in the water and it was all over.
This week the PGA Tour stays in Texas for the Dean & Deluca Invitational at Colonial Country Club. Also known as “Hogan’s Alley” after Ben Hogan, who actually won this tournament a record five times. Last year Chris Kirk won this tournament and he was actually the first player to be given the Ben Hogan award back in 2007 for top college player and then also go on and win here.
The course itself is a classic style golf course. No outrages island greens or stadium holes. Just plenty of trees and subtle doglegs to navigate. Driving distance isn’t a must. Instead precision and putting are the keys for success at Colonial. Let’s see if we can go one better than last week.
Charley Hoffman
First up is Charley Hoffman a player that we can trust in Texas. Hoffman is having a great season currently sitting 18th in the FedEx cup standings. He won the Texas open at the end of April and also played well last week at the Byron Nelson finishing in 12th. He has some very handy finishes at Colonial with a T10 in 2015, T18 in 2013 and a T13 in 2012.

Colt Knost
If anybody is knocking at the door for a PGA win its Colt. He finished in 3rd place at the Players championship two weeks ago and 4th place last week at the Byron Nelson. Last year Colt shot back to back 66’s on the weekend to finish T10 here at Colonial. He looks primed for a victory this week.

Jason Dufner
Dufner is flying somewhat under the radar. He technically has already had a win this season at an unofficial PGA event (Franklin Templeton shootout). He played solid golf last week finishing in a T24th. In 2012 Dufner was runner up here and again in 2014. He obviously feels comfortable here and looks like good value at $41.

Tony Finau
Finau was on my radar last week mainly because of his power off the tee. He finished in 12th place with four consistent rounds in the 60’s. Last year was Finau’s first go around Colonial and he put in a solid performance finishing T19. He looks ready to pick up his second PGA Tour win this season.

+Finau to finish Top 20 - $3 at CrownBet
