Welcome to our preview and tips for greyhound racing at Albion Park and Angle Park on Monday, May 6th.
We've picked out our five best bets of the night below.
Albion Park Greyhound Tips
Race 4 – 7:42pm AEST
(3) Sandave Gypsy will be hard to beat but the price is very short. (4) Angel Gear represents value in the race with the blue rug after a 35.58 victory at Casino over 620m. She normally has good early box speed and it would be a huge advantage if she could cross Sandave Gypsy at the start. I am concerned by the early speed of (2) Brooklyn Miss. Angel Gear has run times that are comparable with the favourite and the price difference is big. Happy with $4 or better for Angel Gear.
Race 10 – 9:36pm AEST
The last race looks very tricky and happy to back one at a big price that I think can run well. (4) Mandela Cloud has been consistent with a win and three placings from his last eight starts. Dropping back to the 395m looks suitable as he has finished first, second and third from five starts over track and distance. (1) Another Red will be the greyhound to beat from the inside box, with a win and two runner-up performances from his last three. $10 or better is backable.
Angle Park Greyhound Tips
Race 1 – 6:32pm AEST
(5) Sweet Ella will have plenty of room to move in this small field of five runners. She is in top form with four wins from her last five starts, including a 29.96 here on April 25th which is quicker than any of her rivals. She should have every chance to make it back-to-back wins in this sixth-grade event. (2) Aston Jedi and (7) Fantastic Arlo are the main dangers. Happy to take $2 or better.
Race 6 – 8:12pm AEST
Box one is perfect for (1) Fantastic Hope who looks just that in this fifth-grade event over the 515m. She last won in February but this event looks a great chance to return to the winner’s circle. Two starts ago she was second when beaten 2.25L by Magic Vi in 30.25. Her February win saw her clock 29.96 which was only two lengths shy of her 29.85 best time for track and distance. No other greyhound in the field has broken 30 seconds to date here. Looks a $1.80 chance to me.
Race 10 – 9:30pm AEST
(2) Long Gully Gus appeals in the checks; he has won two of three from this box and has been racing well with three wins and a second from his last five. Looking at his last 10 and Long Gully Gus has won five and been placed in four. He is always suited racing in 4/5 grade. Outside of Long Gully Gus, I can make a case for most of them if he doesn’t bring his A-game. It looks a very competitive race and should be a good spectacle to watch as every greyhound will get their chance. Happy to support at $2.20 or better.
