Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, October 5th 2024

Race 1: Midway BM72 1800m – 12:05pm (AEST)

(5) Agita $8.00/$2.70: 4YO Gelding who has a good record on the dry track and wasn’t all that far away over this trip in similar class. Draws a sticky gate, but if close enough he is a chance at a price.

(8)  State of America $11.00/$3.40: Resumed last start off a short break and hit the line nicely. Extra trip will assist and is at a nice price.

(17) Hooligan Tommy $7.00:  Looking to make it three on the trot and the money has poured in early which suggests he is the one to beat here. Gets in nicely with a 2kg claim. Main danger.

TIP: No Bet

Race 2: Arrowfield Breeders Plate 1000m – 12:40pm (AEST)

(4) King Kirk $4.40 $300k purchase out of Ole Kirk and showed promise in his trial. Expect a bold showing.

(8) Ripley $6.50: $625k purchase, so expecting some talent here. Trail was okay, but would appreciate a few more runs. Watch the market?

(10) Tuscany $4.00:  Expensive purchase and boasted slick times at his trial win. J-Mac to steer. Just wins?

TIP: No Bet

Race 3: Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes 1000m - 1:15pm (AEST)

(3) Bel Merci $5.50/$2.05: 2yo filly who was handy running on at her trial and expect a similar display here.

(6) Icarian Dream $3.90:  Trial winner leading into this and looked rather easy. Should be firing here. Out of a group 1 winner. Strong pedigree.

(9) O’ole $7.00: Another trial winner who led from start to finish.  Sticky gate here though, so will need luck.

TIP: No Bet

Race 4: Drinkwise Dulcify Stakes 1600m – 1:50pm (AEST)

(2) Just Party $4.60: I liked this colt midweek, but he was scratched to race here. Hard fit now third up and looks ready for the mile. Top hope.

(3) Swiftfalcon $3.10: 3YO Gelding who was impressive when resuming winning comfortably in the end whilst lugging 61.5kg. Tougher grade now, but can’t fault on that performance.

(7) Johnny The Kid $4.80: 3YO colt who finally broke maiden after a few handy runs and he did it in style winning by 3L over 1550m. This looks as though its his key distance, so expect another positive run here.

TIP: No Bet

Race 5: Alinta Energy 1600m BM94 – 2:25pm (AEST)

(1) Benaud $61.00/$11.50: 6YO Grey who has had almost a year off, but has had three trials leading into this which included a win over 1100m. Promising stayer who looks capable resuming over the mile and gets in light with a 3kg claim. Blow out hope here.

(4) Floating $5.50: Handy winner last start and this is only slightly harder, but compensated with a lighter weight. Draws a gate and can be hard to catch.

(12) Chica Mojito $4.00: 4YO Mare who was flying first up and just ran out of tarmac. Beaten by Firestorm who franks the form winning last start. Low weight and an extra 100m now is key. Top pick.

(12) Chica Mojito

$4.00 (1.5 Units)

Race 6: Darley Flight Stakes 1600m – 3:00pm (AEST)

(1) Autumn Glow $1.50: Unbeaten 3YO filly who looks to be quite the talent and will be awfully hard to beat here. Too good for these.

(2) Snow In May $6.50: 3YO filly who boasted some nice sectional times, so needs to be considered for sure. Hard fit for this third up run. Knockout hope.

(5) Delichy Boulevard $21.00/$3.30: I’m a big fan of this horse if she runs in Victoria which is where I expect her to run, but if she does run here off her previous outings, she can play a handy role at big odds.

TIP: No Bet

Race 7: Precise Air premier Stakes 1200m – 3:35pm (AEST)

(1) Giga Kick $2.50: 5YO who can be forgiven first up where he was caught wide throughout. Fitter now and draws a better gate. Proven winner over this trip and goes well on the dry. Set weights puts him as a danger.

(4) Coal Crusher $41.00/$7.30: 7YO who draws pole position and loves to lead. Expect him to try pinch this and could pull off an upset if he dictates. Blow out hope.

(7) Bella Nipotina $2.80: 7YO Mare who will have plenty of admirers when resuming off a freshen up run at Group 3 level finishing second to I AM ME with gaps to third. I AM ME has since franked the form again winning recently. Bella gets in nicely here with set weights and maps as though she will settle at the rear, hopefully on the back of GIGA KICK. She will be flying late. Top pick.

(7) Bella Nipotina

$2.80 (2.5 Units)

Race 8: James Squire Metropolitan 2400m– 4:10pm (AEST)

(10) Zardozi $10.00/$3.10:  4YO Mare who has ran nicely over this distance previously, but concerns this prep as she hasn’t appeared to hit the line very well (Tiring late). Fourth up now and should be match fit, but would need some improvement. On her day she wins this. Each way play.

(17) Berkshire Breeze $8.00/$2.75: Yet to miss the placings from his last 6 outings. Dropping slightly back in distance now and the change of tactics to sit off them and swoop late appeared to work well last time out hitting the line nicely. Value play.

(21) Unusual legacy $6.50: 5YO who has returned superbly and only nabbed by Firestorm last weekend. Quick turn around and up to 2400m looks good. Back onto the dry track adds confidence. Top hope.

TIP: No Bet

Race 9: Tab Epsom 1600m – 4:45pm (AEST)

(1) My Oberon $17.00/$4.40: 8YO gelding who was magnificent last start only finishing behind FANGIRL. That form is very good. With set weights he deserves another crack here at big odds. Wide gate the only concern, but with some luck he can run a race here.

(4) Kovalica $7.00/$2.60: 5YO gelding who was handy when resuming in the Tramway and only finished 1.5L behind Royal Patrionage. He now meets him 4kg better at the weights and rises to the mile which looks ideal. Main Danger.

(7) Ceolwulf $7.00: 4YO gelding who was super to the line first up after blowing the start. Redeemed himself second up winning very well. Tackled 2000m last start and only finished behind Eliyass who is 7 from 7 at that trip. Drops back to the mile now and is hard fit. Top hope.

(4) Kovalica E/W

$7.00/$2.60 (1U/2U)

Race 10: Tab BM94 1200m – 5:25pm (AEST)

(4) Ostraka $3.60: 4YO gelding who returned in style and made a lot of punters happy as there was a big go on him. Hard to not be on again now.

(6) Fall For Cindy $26.00/$5.50: 5YO Mare who is resuming and could be slightly over the odds here. Id prefer her over further, but is capable here with two trials under her belt and with plenty of speed on paper she may be able to swoop late.

(21) Briasa $5.50: 4YO Grey who is unbeaten from 4 attempts. 2 wins at this distance and 3 win on the dry track. Rises in class, but wins have been dominant. Gets in light and will be a danger again.
