Greyhound Racing Tips - Thursday September 22nd
Sandown Park: Race 1
(4) Aston Kalkara stormed home at this track & distance last week (2nd) and a repeat of that performance will see him go close. He does need to start a little better however but with the dog in box three also not having the best of early toe, he gets his chance in this race to explore the extra room on offer. Before his excellent second last week he was sent out a $1.30 favourite at Warrnambool and arguably should have won. He still ran a pretty good time of 25.44 but having his second look at Sandown Park under race conditions should see him improve a couple of lengths.
(4) Aston Kalkara WIN
$2.20 (3 units)
Nowra: Race 4
(3) Sir Banjo for trainer Anthony Lord didn’t let punters down when winning easily on debut at Goulburn. He was sent out $1.50 favourite and took the win by three lengths after being a bit slow out of the boxes. He should improve from that, and it looks as though the extra distance should suit after he ran out the 440m very well. The dog has had three weeks off between racing but I think Lord would have taken him to Nowra for a look so he should have no issues being first up at a new track.
(3) Sir Banjo WIN
$3.10 (4 units)
Albion Park: Race 2
(2) City Way got the money after starting the race nicely here two weeks ago (30.32) and after watching the way he won you can see that he does have a lot of talent. In his three previous races he was running well without winning but was proving to be costly for punters after starting at even money most of those starts. He has since matured and hopefully he can start to reward punters with their trust. Box two should hold no issues and with City Way having won last time his confidence will be up. The odds again won’t be huge here, but it does look like he has a couple of lengths on these.
(2) City Way WIN
$3.00 (4 units)
Angle Park: Race 3
(1) Stout Monelli has never missed a top three finish from box one and although it is unlikely that it will beat the $1.40 fav in Wow She’s Fast, i think Stout Monelli can run second from the good draw. For David Geall the dog has been drawing poorly of late having had either box four or five in his last five races. Despite that he has been racing very well and has won three on end. He is very reliable out of the boxes and if he doesnt lead he should settle just behind the leader and then be strong to the line. Wow She’s Fast is a champion but i have chosen to take the $1.95 on offer for a Placing for Stout Monelli over $1.45 a Win for the champ.
(1) Stout Monelli PLACE
$1.95 (4 units)
Hobart: Race 1
(2) Winemaker looked sharp winning at Launceston on debut over the short course trip of 278m and if he can jump like that again he should be in this for a long way. For Kyron Ebden the chaser goes from box seven on debut to an arguably better draw in two and with his main rival in box one he will look to cut it off early. Eli’s Tractor has a bit more experience than our selection, but we are counting on box two to head box one in the first 50m.
(2) Winemaker WIN
$2.50 (2 units)
Mandurah: Race 2
(8) What a Phoenix is racing in consistent fashion and i think the box draw helps him get some room to move here. It's his first time out of the wide alley but he does usually settle around third after 100m and then make his run so having no dog on the outside might help him. He won from a similar draw (7) last time at Cannington where that happened. He settled fourth and rounded them up over the second half of the race.
(8) What a Phoenix WIN
$8.50 odds (1 unit)
