NBA Playoffs Betting Tips: Friday April 22nd
Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves
Target Center, 9:30am AEST
After losing the opening game in an upset, the Grizzlies bounced back in a big way with a massive 124-96 win over the Timberwolves in Game 2. Ja Morant led from the front with a juicy line of 23/10/9, while Jaren Jackson Jr. improved his performance with 16 points in 27 minutes. For the losing side, Anthony Edwards was the best performer with 20 points and six rebounds.
I’m expecting the same starting lineups for both sides in Game 3 as both teams would be relatively happy with how their squads have performed through two games. Ja Morant will look to take his team to a 2-1 advantage, but Karl-Anthony Towns will have other ideas.
Despite being the away side in this contest, the Grizzlies will start the game as narrow favourites. In my opinion, they should be a lot firmer favourites too. They’ve been by far better than the Timberwolves all season long and when they get their defence right, like we saw in Game 2, then they’re really hard to beat. Grizzles to win this for me.

Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz
Vivint Arena, 11am AEST
Much like the game above, the higher seeded Mavericks were able to get themselves back on level terms in the series with a strong 110-104 win at home. Luka Doncic was absent once again, but Jalen Brunson put on the best show of his young career with 41 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Donovan Mitchell tried his best to will the Jazz to two wins in a row, putting up 34 points on 13/30 shooting.
The Mavericks have had to play the first two games of this series without superstar Luka Doncic, but that may change in Game 3 with the Slovenian listed as a chance to play. Aside from his potential addition, both teams are expected to line-up the same again on Friday.
The potential of Luka Doncic returning for this game hasn’t swayed the odds as much as I expected it too, with the away side still giving up seven points in the handicap market. Even if he doesn’t suit up, I still like the chances of the Mavericks to be able to cover the big spread here. They’re the more consistent team in this matchup and deserve more respect from the bookies.

Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 12pm AEST
Nikola Jokic was ejected in Game 2 after showing his frustrations of his team’s performance and a few dubious calls from the referees. He still led the scoring for his team with 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds, but had little support as his team went down 106-126 and 0-2 in the series as a result. Steph Curry, Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson combined for 84 points in the win.
The Warriors haven’t needed to look to their bench too often thus far aside from Steph Curry who’s still playing starters minutes. However, veteran Andre Igoudala is a chance to return to the rotation on Friday. For the Nuggets, they’ll be bringing in the same roster as Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. continue to miss.
The Warriors are looking like a team on a mission at the moment and now that they’re fully healthy they’re proving very hard to stop. They’ve been so much better than the one-dimensional Nuggets so far this series and although the Nuggets are at home this time around, I expect very little to change.
