BBL11 Stars vs Strikers Betting Tips
MCG, Monday 10th January, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Melbourne Stars
Predicted XI: Marcus Stones, Joe Clarke, Travis Dean, Nick Larkin, Hilton Cartwright, Tom O’Connell, Beau Webster, Qais Ahmad, Brody Couch, Adam Zampa, Haris Rauf
The nine players that were out with COVID for the Stars finally return on Monday night, led by the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa and Joe Clarke. Unfortunately for the Stars, Glenn Maxwell tested positive at a later date, so he will remain on the sidelines.
I expect Tom O’Connell and Travis Dean to be the only replacement players from the Stars to have a chance at keeping their spots, which is a testament to how improved their side will be on Monday night. Add Maxwell back into this mix and it’s a team that is capable of making a late push for the finals given they have two games in hand on the rest of the competition and the fact that they should no longer be hindered by COVID as all of their key players have had it already.
Adelaide Strikers
Predicted XI: Matt Short, Henry Hunt, Matt Renshaw, Jono Wells, Jake Weatherald, Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielsen, Rashid Khan, Harry Conway, Wes Agar, Peter Siddle
The Strikers have been one of the least affected by COVID throughout the season so far and they capitalised in their last game, defeating the Hurricanes by seven wickets to record just their 2nd win of the season. Unfortunately for the Strikers, their batting line-up just hasn’t been competitive enough, lacking the real star power with the absence of both Alex Carey and Travis Head.
Tough to like a lot about their season so far, and a road trip to the MCG to take on a rejuvenated Stars team will be an extremely tough test.
Match Prediction
The Stars start as slight favourites here and I’m siding with them. The additions of Clarke, Stoinis and Zampa alone turn their line-up from a middling one into a star studded one instantly. Add in some quality recruits that they have picked up throughout the year in Rauf and Ahmad and the team is finally starting to take shape.
Same Game Multi
Pairing Matt Renshaw and Nick Larkin both to score 10+ runs for the first two legs of our same game multi. I tend to gravitate towards the No.3 batsmen in these legs as they usually play the anchor roles for their team, taking less risks and working their way into an innings.
As always, the third leg of the multi will be the 1st wicket of the game to be caught. This has saluted in almost 90% of games this season and is still paying a healthy $1.36 as a same game multi leg, absolutely ridiculous value.
