The Swans suffered their first loss of the season in Round 5 against the Giants and will be looking to bounce back on the road on Saturday afternoon when they travel to the Gold Coast to take on the Suns.

The Swans were fantastic through the first four rounds of the AFL season, taking some big scalps in the likes of Brisbane and Richmond on their way to a 4-0 start. They faced their first stumbling block on the weekend as they went down in an absolute thriller to the GWS Giants in the Battle of the Bridge. The Swans now move to 4-1 on the season and sit in 3rd place on the AFL ladder.
The Suns are on the opposite end of the spectrum, maintaining just a 1-4 record through their first five games. They sit in 15th place on the AFL table and have been absolutely ravaged by injuries to a bunch of key players. They were smashed by the Western Bulldogs on the weekend, allowing 118 points at Marvel Stadium as they went down by 62.
The Suns will be without the likes of Connor Budarick, Matt Conroy, Sam Day, Matt Rowell, Zac Smith, Jacob Townsend, Rory Thompson and skipper Jarrod Witts heading into this clash but despite the long list, they only start as 8.5 point underdogs. The Swans are a little more settled on the injury front but will still be without three key players in Isaac Heeney, Lance Franklin and Dane Rampe.

Of their four wins this season, the Swans have won by an average margin of 27.75 points and they have won nine of 11 games against the Suns by a massive average margin of 53.3 points. Nick Holman had 19 touches in an increased role against the Dogs on the weekend, his second game of the season with 15+. In his last game against the Swans with full length quarters, Holman racked up 17 touches and booted a goal in a 22 point win. Back the forward to clear the 15 touch mark again this weekend.

No Buddy in the Swans forward line should open up some room for big man Sam Reid. Reid has had a bit of a slow start to the season with just five goals through five games but in his last clash against the Suns he booted two goals, one of just a few multiple goal games for that season. Should be the focal point of the Swans forward line this week and is good value to kick 2+.
