2021 AFL Round 4 Melbourne vs Geelong Tips
MCG, Sunday 11th April 3.20pm (AEST)
It’s an intriguing game of footy we have on our hands at the home of football on Sunday afternoon. Both sides are coming off wins and both will be desperate to secure another win here to build some serious momentum for weeks to come.
Match Prediction
Melbourne have had a superb start to the season with wins in all three of their games. They’re yet to really be tested in the clutch but the early signs are promising for their finals hopes this season. Last weekend they secured a comfortable win over the Giants while posting their first 100+ score in 2021.
The Demons will be looking for more of the same this weekend and will go in with nearly an identical line-up to the one that sailed past the Giants in Round 3. The only change looks to be the omission of Tom Sparrow, with Jake Melksham coming in after a DNP as the medical sub last weekend.
Geelong have had a shaky start to the season after opening with a loss as the red-hot favourites against the Crows. They’ve responded with narrow wins over both the Lions and the Hawks, albeit in controversial and fortunate circumstances. Regardless, they’re 2-1 and have a chance to jump into fifth spot with a win.
Chris Scott obviously wasn’t a big fan of what he saw from his team last weekend and has made four changes to this weekend’s team as a result, two of those changes being forced through injury. The biggest of the in’s is clearly Sam Menegola who is crucial to the Cats ball movement and transitional play.
This is certainly an intriguing game and one that the bookies have priced as near even-money. In our opinion however, the Demons deserve to be the favorites at home here as they’ve been in the much better form of the two sides. The Cats have looked slow at times this season and just might find it tough to keep up with one of the form teams of the competition on the MCG.

Melbourne Prop
The Demons have been scoring with ease so far this season, recording 80+ points in each of their three games. As a result, there’s a lot of value in their goal scorer markets for us to take advantage of. The one that stands out the most is Kysaiah Pickett to kick 2+ goals. He’s started the season on fire with seven goals in three games and is coming off a career-best four-goal haul in Round 3. There’s no reason he can’t kick multiple goals again here, so jump on these juicy odds as soon as you can.

Geelong Prop
It was a bit harder to find a prop for a Cats player, but we’ve managed to find some decent odds on a speculative bet on Jordan Clark to get 20+ disposals. He’s got a new role on the wing and has shown the ability to chalk up touches in quick succession when he’s involved in the play. He’s one of the fastest players in the AFL and should relish playing on one of the biggest grounds in the MCG.
