PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Betting Tips
TPC River Highlands, Thursday 20th - Sunday 23rd June
What a week it was a Pinehurst last week as Bryson DeChambeau claimed the third major of the year in a thrilling finish over Rory McIlroy. DeChambeau now fades back into the realm of LIV Golf while Rory has already stated he will be taking this week off. Regardless, it’s still a stacked field for what will be the final signature event of the season.
The Field
The No.1 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, had a bit of a down week at the U.S. Open, but will be back in action and headlining the field this week. He has already won three of the seven signature events held this year as well as the Players Championship and the Masters, so another win here would make it an almost unprecedented PGA Tour season.
Other top names in the field include Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay and Tommy Fleetwood.
Past winners of the Travelers who will be looking to add another trophy to the case include Schauffele, Keegan Bradley, Harris English and Jordan Spieth.
The Course
TPC River Highlands, situated in Cromwell, Connecticut, is a prestigious golf course originally designed by Robert J. Ross in 1928 and subsequently renovated. Encompassing approximately 148 acres, the course boasts a scenic layout highlighted by rolling hills, trees, and water hazards.
Measuring around 6,841 yards from the championship tees, the par-70 course offers a challenging yet gratifying experience for both professional golfers and enthusiasts. TPC River Highlands is renowned for its notable holes, including the iconic "Golden Bell" 15th hole and the atmospheric "Bullpen" 16th hole, which contribute to the course's storied history and memorable moments in golf.
Betting Tips
Xander Schauffele ($8.00/Top 10 $1.83)
My best bet of the big dogs this weekend. Is in some sparkling form, having reeled off a T8 at the Memorial and a T7 at the U.S. Open in his first two starts since winning the PGA Championship. Basically a set and forget for a top 10 finish these days and a great anchor for a multi if you want to stretch that out to top 20.
Russel Henley ($29/Top 20 $1.86)
If you’re hunting a bit more value this week I like the look of Russel Henley. Was fantastic in the final round of the U.S. Open on Sunday, shooting a round low 67 to climb into T7. He’s made six trips to the Travelers in the past and made the cut five times, including a T6 among four top 20s.
