Adelaide will welcome the West Coast Eagles to Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon for a match which looks set to be a closely fought contest. Many are wondering what on earth has happened to the Eagles recently, having now lost three straight matches as they fight to avoid dropping out of the top eight.
The Crows have also been pretty average in the last month as their disappointing season continues. They too will be looking to avoid a fourth straight loss and their fans will be hoping for a much improved performance following a 60 point thrashing at the hands of the Bombers. Check out our Round 18 betting tips for the clash below!
AFL Adelaide vs West Coast Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Sunday July 18th, 4.40pm (AEST)
This match sees two of the most out of form teams in the competition do battle and it makes it an extremely tough one to predict. With both teams on a three-game losing streak, you’d expect there to be plenty of desperation from both sides.
West Coast have been sliding down the ladder as their poor run of form continues. I think they have a lot more to play for than the Crows and it might be this factor which gets them over the line. We know the quality that they do possess and I think they match up well across the ground against Adelaide. You’d expect them to be keen to turn their fortunes around and sitting in 7th currently means a loss could see them drop out of the eight. They beat the Crows comfortably in the first meeting between these two teams this season.
Adelaide have been very poor in the last month and that’s putting it lightly. They managed only 21 points last week in their big loss to the Bombers where they kicked just two goals for the entire match - that was the lowest team score in Crows history. They have now been beaten by 60+ in two straight games and are a genuine chance to finish with the wooden spoon if they don’t turn it around. However, they will be boosted by the return of Tex Walker and Tom Lynch and playing back at Adelaide Oval is always a positive.
I think the Eagles just have more quality about them across the park and in a must-win game for them, they look a healthy enough price. Adelaide, while getting back some key players, have just been extremely poor and I can’t see them turning it around. The early-season meeting between both sides showed the level above that the Eagles arguably are and I think they’ll be ready to bounce back following their shock loss to North Melbourne.
