AFL North Melbourne vs Gold Coast Betting Tips
Blundstone Arena, Saturday 1.45pm (AEST)
It’s certainly not the most glamorous of matchups to kick off the Saturday slate but it’s footy nonetheless, so you can be sure that we’ll be investing some capital on the game.
Match Prediction
The Suns and Roos are 16th and 18th respectively on the ladder, having won just five games between them this season. The Suns account for four of those wins, but they have arguably the worse of the two sides over the last few months. They have lost five of their last six games and were decimated to the tune of 50 points against the Power on the weekend.
On the other hand, the Roos are 1-1-3 over their last five games, and besides a blowout loss to the Bombers, they have been pretty competitive in every game since Round 6. They were solid against the Demons, Pies, Saints and Lions in losses and picked up a win over the Hawks and a draw against the Giants. They are certainly playing better than their 1-1-11 record would suggest at the moment.
The Roos are also starting to get players back from their extremely long injury list. A few key players in the likes of Jaidyn Stephenson and Robbie Tarrant made their way back into the side in their last game while Taylor Garner, Jed Anderson, Aidan Bonar and Jared Polec are all nearing returns.
The Suns are in a similar injury boat. Absolutely ravaged earlier in the season, some of their key players in the likes of Matt Rowell, Jack Bowes and Sam Day have come back in the last few games while David Swallow and Sam Collins look to be only another week away.
It might be the first time this season that the Roos have started as favourites for an AFL game, and I have to agree with the bookies here. I really like the way they have been competing of late, they have just seemed to fall away in the last quarter after going toe to toe with some good teams through the first three. They now sit six points behind their nearest opponents on the ladder, so a win won’t hurt their chances of finishing on the bottom of the ladder and securing the No.1 pick.
Against a struggling Suns side, I think North Melbourne can put together four quarters and capture their second win of the season on Saturday.
