AFL Gold Coast vs Port Adelaide Betting Tips
Metricon Stadium, Saturday 1.45pm (AEST)
It’s certainly not the most glamorous of matchups, but one that is really crucial to the top four hopes of Port Adelaide, who have faced some stumbling blocks over the last few weeks.
Match Prediction
Port Adelaide faced a tough test in their first game back from the bye, hosting the Cats on Thursday night football at Adelaide Oval in Round 13. They got out to a hot start, but were ran over by the Cats in the 2nd half, losing by 21 points in what was a disappointing game at home. The Power have a pretty cruisy run home, with just three of their final nine games coming against top eight sides, but they’ll need to continue to beat the lower ranked sides if they want to hold off the pack of top four contenders in Brisbane, Sydney, West Coast and Richmond.
The Suns were favoured in their Round 13 clash against the Dockers but couldn’t get the job done in Perth, losing by 27 points in a pretty dismal performance. Injuries have ravaged this side in 2021 so far, however, they got Matt Rowell back last week and could get Sam Collins, Elijah Hollands and Hawego Oea back from injury this week, which should boost their stocks at either end of the ground.
Hard to believe that the Power are just 14.5 point favourites here. Granted, this game is being played up on the Gold Coast, but I would have thought that they would open at around 25-30 point favourites. It’s a game that they’ll be absolutely desperate to win after dropping points to the Cats last week and they have a truly dominant record against the Suns.
Port Adelaide handed the Gold Coast their first ever win all the way back in Round 5 of 2011… They are yet to let the Suns beat them again. The streak spans 11 games and those wins have an average margin of 44.0 points. Back them to cover a pretty disrespectful line here.
