2021 AFL Round 3 West Coast vs Port Adelaide Tips

Optus Stadium, Saturday 3rd April 8.10pm (AEDT)

Both clubs are coming off solid outings in Round 2, albeit in a loss in the Eagles case, which should result in a really nice game of footy on Saturday night. These teams have played in some epics over the past couple of years, so strap yourself in!

Match Prediction

West Coast battled away admirable against the Bulldogs on the quick Marvel Stadium deck last weekend, but were unfortunately outclassed in the end by a very good side. Now at 1-1, the Eagles will be looking forward to heading back home to a ground they’ve proven very hard to beat at.

There’s some good news on the injury front for the Eagles with Luke Shuey returning for his first game of the season. He’s been plagued by soft tissue injuries for a couple of years now and will be hoping his recent hamstring strain is all good to go. Shuey comes in alongside speedster Jack Petruccelle, while there are no significant outs.

Port Adelaide have had a dream draw to start the season and have made the most of it with very comfortable wins against both North Melbourne and most recently the Bombers. Zak Butters looks to be taking his game to the next level and was huge against the Bombers, while Dan Houston is also in career-best form to start the season and has recently been given the label as best kick in the competition by some of the media.

The Power have had no real injury concerns to start their campaign other than minor foot surgery for Connor Rozee, who is expected to make his return to action in Perth this week. Also coming in is tall forward Todd Marshall who missed their most recent clash, but has been a regular in their best 22 for the past 12 months.

The Eagles had the wood over the Power for a couple of years there, but the latter has regained control of this matchup in recent years, winning their last two clashes by 42 and 48 points. It should definitely be a closer contest this time around and the H2H market will show you that, however, we still have to side with the Power to get the chocolates as they just haven’t put a foot wrong yet.

There’s a couple of goal scorer markets that stand out as value in this game and of them is Oscar Allen to kick multiple goals. He’s a young gun on the rise and is starting to hit the scoreboard on a regular basis. He finished last season by kicking 2+ goals in his last three games and has started this season by kicking four in Round 1 and two in Round 2, making it five straight appearances with 2+ goals. All signs lead to more goals for Allen.

Another goal scorer market we like involves Mitch Georgiades from the Power. Another young gun, Georgiades is coming off a career-high four goals last weekend against the Bombers. He’s a high-flyer and already a proven goalkicker in his short career and will be brimming with confidence after a superb outing last weekend. Getting near 3x your money for this man to jag two goals looks like another great bet.
