We had yet another profitable week with our tennis tips, hitting on Roger Federer ($3) to win the title in Dubai. He cruised through the tournament and defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets in the final, winning ATP Dubai for the eighth time and claiming his 100th career title in the process. There’s no respite in the tennis world however, as all the players are now gearing up to hit the courts in the first Masters 1000 event of the season. Indian Wells (USA)
The Indian Wells Masters, also known as BNP Paribas Open, is an annual tennis tournament that is part of the ATP World Tour. It is held in March every year at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California, United States of America. This event is the first of nine Masters 1000 events in the calendar year and holds the highest purse of all nine, along with the Miami Masters. The 92-man field includes 32 seeded players, all of whom get the first round off as a BYE. Rogers Federer (2004-17) and Novak Djokovic (2008-2016) share the record of most Indian Wells Masters titles with five, while Juan Martin del Potro is the current defending champion after defeating Federer in three tight sets in the 2018 final.

Top Half
World number one Novak Djokovic headlines the top half the draw at Indian Wells. He’s been given a tough third round match-up with the in-form Nick Kyrgios possibly awaiting him there, but apart from that he should cruise through to the quarterfinals where he’s drawn to play an out of sorts Dominic Thiem, before facing world number three Alexander Zverev Jr for a spot in the final. The main outside threats in the top half loom as the aforementioned Kyrgios, as well as the brilliant youngster Stefanos Tsitsipas and Canadian heavy hitter Milos Raonic. All things considered, Djokovic will be licking his lips at the draw he’s been given here.
Bottom Half
The bottom half of the draw features arguably the two greatest tennis players of all time in Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The former has been awarded the fourth seed and finds himself in a very difficult quarter with two other top 10 seeds in Kevin Anderson (5) and Marin Cilic (10), either of whom has the ability to take down Federer on their day. For Rafa, well, he’s been given a fairly straight forward run until he’s drawn to play Federer in the semis, although there are still a few he needs to be mindful of if they find their best.
Prediction
All things considered, we just can’t go past Novak Djokovic here. He may be short odds at $2.20, but on recent form and the draw he’s got here that genuinely feels like great value for us. We’re more than happy to jump on at anything over $2 for the world number one, and will sprinkle a bit on Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas as our dark horse.
Value: Stefanos Tsitsipas Title $34
