July 28th 2023, 5:04pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

The Valley highlights Saturday Racing in Victoria once again with a nine-race program on offer. The weather this week has been quite good for this time of year and runners will be running on a Good surface. Race 1 on the program comes up at 12:45pm with a 1000m sprint.

Check out our selections for Moonee Valley below and make sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more expert tips for the key race meets around the country.

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, July 29th 2023

Race 4: Lee Ann Suryn Handicap - 2:30pm (AEST)

(3) Magnaspin gets Craig Williams on board again for this assignment and he will be happy with the barrier draw here (3). He should get a good run from there and will likely settle a little closer on a tighter circuit, and he does have the ability to hit the line hard. He is 100 percent fit now and has only been beaten by 1L in his last couple. Ready to show best.

(4) So Sleek has the ability to lead and might try to do so again in this one. He is very fit now and he has placed over this distance previously.

(5) Superstock had no luck when 2nd at Geelong last start and can make amends. Before that he was last in a stronger race at Flemington. Blake Shinn is on.

(7) Slane can lead from barrier one but does have a couple in the race that also like to lead. Will want a slow pace on.

(3) Magnaspin – WIN

$6.50 (1 Unit)

Race 5: Luna Hand Care Handicap - 3:10pm (AEST)

(3) Keats has Willow on and he has won on him previously and this horse does have the ability to lead all of the way in this one. He has won here before and he does go well over this distance. They went a bit too hard when he was 6th at Flemington but I think he may get a more suitable run in this one. His form doesn’t read that well but he is better than that.

(4) Bermadez has been racing poorly for 12 months but did show signs of improvement last start when 7th, beaten 4L at Flemington. One at odds.

(5) Flash Flood is in form and can handle all conditions. He is a last start winner who is very fit right now.

(7) Flash Feeling has drawn the inside and should get a cushy run for Matt Cartwright. First time here but could run on well late.

(3) Keats – WIN

$4.50 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Ranvet Travis Harrison Cup - 4:30pm (AEST)

(12) Pascero is the tip here at juicy odds for the Busuttin & Young team. Track conditions are the key here as he does like dry tracks. He can miss the jump a length or two at times so it is important at this track as it will be too hard to get back involved. Dean Yendall rides for the first time and I just think he jumps okay from barrier 1, he can get a nice run in transit.

(10) Chief Altony is better on wetter tracks but is more than capable on the dry too. He has the ability to run on in his races and does have Willow on.

(7) The Summit has won twice from 3 attempts when second up. His return to racing at Flemington was just fair when 8th but the Hayes stable believes that he can pick one up during the Spring. A Good track is a slight concern.

(5) Jimmy The Bear has drawn wide in 13 and will need luck. He is ready to win though and is one from one at The Valley.

(12) Pascero – WIN

$13 (0.5 Units)

Race 9: Dominant Plant Powered Handicap - 5:40pm (AEST)

(14) Pereille gets to 1200m and it looks ideal after putting in a 1st and 3rd upon resumption. He has placed in all 4 starts on Good tracks and gets an experienced jockey this time in Blake Shinn. From barrier 10, he will likely get back but take off at the 500m. He is the 2nd emergency but should gain a start with one scratching already at the time of analysing.

(12) Orange Ears is fitter now and likes dry tracks. Will run close to Pereille and they will likely take off together.

(8) Shalaman is ready to improve after racing below his best the last 5 starts. He hasn’t placed in those but did run on well last start at Hillside for 4th.

(5) Stripped Back has raced in stronger company than this and he is better on dry tracks. Drawn okay (9) and will slot in midfield.

(14) Pereille – WIN

$2.50 (4 Units)
