March 3rd 2023, 1:18pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Flemington Racing Tips

Racing returns to Flemington on Saturday with the Group 1 Australian Guineas highlighting the program.

The Blamey Stakes (Group 2) is also an attraction with Gentleman Roy the likely favourite in that one.

Race one starts at 12:35pm and runners will race on a Good 4 surface.

Brendan Bunworth’s best racing tips for the card are below!

Flemington Racing Tips – Saturday, March 4th 2023

Race 5

(8) Kettle Hill will appreciate the bigger track of Flemington and the distance and track conditions are suitable. He drops some weight for Jamie Kah and he shouldnt get trapped in like he did last start at Randwick. He will settle midfield but from barrier 3 he should get a lovely run in transit.

(4) Munhamek has drawn poorly in 11 but is down in class after competing in some handy races of late. He has been up for a while but is very fit.

(6) Worthily drops back in distance but is on preferred ground. Forget his run two starts back at Rosehill and then was better last start when 8th beaten 4.9L.

(2) Herman Hesse we will back in a few weeks but he did find the line at the trials last week. A bit short for him at the moment.

(8) Kettle Hill - Win

$3.80 (2 Units)

Race 7

(1) Jacquinot will start favourite and deservedly so after showing exceptional runs in his first 2 runs from a spell. Both wins were by small margins but he shouldn't find this race any harder than recent encounters and his lead up races do have a good history leading up to this race. He will carry 57kg which is okay and barrier 11, although not ideal won't be as bad on a bigger track.

(14) Attrition didn't have much luck last time when 5th but only beaten 0.6L. Kah hops on for the Mitch Freedman stable and this horse will be running home hard.

(2) Elliptical will also be running on but this is harder than his most recent win when he flashed home to score. I worry he might get back too far but he has won here before.

(15) Legarto has won 5 from 6 races and she comes over from New Zealand with full fitness on her side. Michael Dee takes the ride.

(1) Jacquinot - Win

$2.20 (3 Units)

Race 8

(1) Tuvalu was 7th in the Group 1 C F Orr last time out and he should be fitter for that effort. Over the mile he has had 6 starts for 3 wins and 3 seconds. Was half a length behind Alligator Blood the last time he ran here. Jarrod Fry knows the horse well and Lindsay Smith puts the polish on. Group 1 Toorak winner who will carry 57kg.

(7) Uncle Bryn is up in class and this will be his toughest test yet but has been running on nicely in his races leading into this and the 1600m looks ideal. He saw the track for the first time a couple of weeks ago and didn't get much luck when 8th but he will be better for it. Has won 4 from 11 on the Good.

(13) Hezashocka has drawn badly in 14 but he has won 2 races at Flemington and he did look good winning at Stawell jumpout last week.

(4) Gentleman Roy is the likely leader and is the one to beat. But will he can taken on up front? That may be the worry. He did beat Tuvalu last start but leading all of the way at Flemington can be difficult.

(1) Tuvalu - Win

$4.60 (2 Units)

Race 9

*SCRATCHED* (10) Life Lessons is resuming and has won first up previously. Kah takes the ride for the Moody team and from barrier 8 she is likely the position Life Lessons about 4th in the one one. She has only been out of the money once and she has trialled up well leading into this and she does always attract market support.

(7) D’jumbuck keeps winning but is up in class. He will be on pace again and will be hard to beat. He has won 2 of 4 races here. Big chance but I think he will get swamped late.

(4) It’sourtime is good first up and does like a Good track. He is carrying 60kg though.

(1) Pinstriped has been training well leading into this but does have a big weight to carry for Celine Gaudray.

(10) Life Lessons - Win
