No doubt this is a tough Dream Team group to bet on, but we think Nick Riewoldt is good enough value here for a small play at those odds. Let us explain.
Firstly, Riewoldt has the highest Dream Team (DT) point average per game over the season with 99.44. Jack Steven is his closest competitor with an average of 94.68.
Riewoldt’s recent form isn’t his best after a 48 against Geelong three round back, but he bounced back with a 89 against Brisbane two weeks ago and a big 104 against the Hawks last week.
Of this group Steven is probably in the best form, surprisingly followed by Nick Dal Santo who is finally coming into form after being under scrutiny throughout the year. Josh Kennedy is in the worst form of his year, but does have a strong record against the Saints and at the SCG to keep him in contention.
One of the main reasons Reiwoldt’s gets over the line in this group is his record against the Swans. Not only did he have a freak game against the Swans back in round 5 of this year when he scored his season-high 153 DT points, but he also managed a solid 100 late last year. One problem for Reiwoldt is that he doesn’t have a great record at the SCG, but he still shows some value and looks the goods in this group.
