UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Moises Betting Tips

July 17th 2021, 11:33am, By: Ben Talintyre

UFC Fight Night Betting Tips

Dagestan’s next big thing, Islam Makhachev headlines a Fight Night card from the UFC Apex Center against Brazilian Thiago Moises. In the co-main Marion Reneau welcomes back former title challenger and fan favourite Miesha Tate and jiu jitsu legend Rodolfo Viera looks to bounce back from a shock submission loss against Dustin Stoltzfus.

We look to the main event and a couple of multis to build our bank accounts.

UFC Fight Night Betting Tips

Islam Makhachev vs Thiago Moises

Islam Makhachev is arguably the biggest prospect in the Lightweight division, which was on show last time out when he completely dominated Drew Dober. His wrestling is brilliant, and his striking is actually quite underrated for a wrestler. His opponent Thiago Moises is 4-2 in his UFC tenure and is currently on a three-fight win streak, but this is a horror match up for the Brazilian. A little dig into that winning streak also shows it wasn’t all smooth sailing. He was being utterly dominated by Michael Johnson before securing a submission and his win over Bobby Green probably should have gone the other way. Last time out he beat Alexander Hernandez in impressive fashion yet it is worth noting Hernandez was stopped dominantly by Drew Dober less than two years ago….. Moises’ key to victory is to catch Makhachev in something nasty on the ground but that seems highly unlikely. Expect a completely one-sided domination. There is absolutely no value to be had on Makhachev and rightly so. I don’t mind the odds on offer for Makhachev to win by knockout though as he has the advantage on the feet and will likely just ground and pound Moises from top control on the mat. Nothing overboard but the $4+ on offer is worth a stab.

Makhachev by KO/TKO

$4.33

Main Card Multi: Miesha Tate and Rodolfo Viera

Miesha Tate has nothing left to prove and I am actually sad to see her return to the UFC. Tate will be nowhere near what she was when she left the organisation, but she doesn’t have to be in this fight. She is paired up with Marion Reneau who is set to retire after this fight, is on a four fight losing streak and is 44 years of age. This will be a shocking fight that Tate will win, possibly by submission much to the delight of the crowd.

Rodolfo Viera gassed horrendously last time out when he suffered his first professional loss, but it won’t matter here as he should steamroll Dustin Stoltzfus, earning himself a performance of the night submission in the process…

Tate + Viera

$2.35

Undercard Multi: Amanda Lemos + Miles Johns

Amanda Lemos should absolutely destroy Montserrat Ruiz. Ruiz has one weapon, a head and arm throw. If you can defend it you win, simple as that. Lemos has the wrestling and grappling to keep it standing, and on the feet it will be a one sided beating. Lemos likely stops Ruiz midway through the fight.

Miles Johns should pick apart Dos Santos who only seems to know how to throw hooks on the feet and that should bode well for Johns piston like jabs. Dos Santos does have a solid ground game, but Johns has the wrestling caper to keep this fight where he wants it which is standing. Johns should come away with a clear-cut decision victory.
