2024 NRL Round 14 Preview & Betting Tips
Gold Coast Titans vs South Sydney Rabbitohs
Cbus Super Stadium – Saturday 8th June – 3pm (AEST)
This is an important game for the Gold Coast Titans. At face value, you'd be thinking they are no hope of playing finals footy in 2024, but when you look at the ladder, a win here and they would be within one win of the eighth placed Sydney Roosters, with a game in hand, so this shapes up to be a crucial contest in that regard. Their side is bolstered by the return of Kieran Foran and great to see Jayden Campbell named, albeit as a reserve, but there is whispers that he could be elevated to the bench, and if so, he could break the game wide open late in the contest. They are also proving quite hard to beat at home, and Queensland, shocking the Broncos at Suncorp last time in a high scoring game, with David Fifita starring, albeit that wasn't enough for him to get an Origin call, so he'll have a point to prove.
When it comes to a point to prove, that clearly applies to Latrell Mitchell and his 2024 form to date. If you lined up the NRL fullbacks 1-17, on form, you would have Latrell at 17. He has been so disappointing this season, and that has coincided with the form of the team in general. But, there were signs of life when the Bunnies took care of Parramatta and Latrell did play much better. The point to prove for him is that a Centre spot for the NSW Origin team is up for grabs. If he can play half decent this week and next week, then you'd think the spot is his. Can that sort of factor be enough motivation for him to shoot the lights out and drag his team to a win?
Match Prediction: I think this game will hinge on whether Mo Fotuaika backs up from Origin. He is so crucial to the forward pack of the Titans and if he is rested, then I sway towards South Sydney, who took care of a depleted Eels unit, but I am still not convinced on them, whereas I have more faith in the Gold Coast and their last 4-6 weeks.

Alofiana Khan-Pereira Anytime Try Scorer: Try scoring machine in 2023, his form this year hasn't been as dynamic but given the Bunnies are the worst defensive side in the comp, I am sure he will get a good look on a number of occasions to score.
Alex Johnston Anytime Try Scorer: The most prolific try scorer still playing and despite the form of the team, the left hand side of the Bunnies attack is still dynamic and I am sure Latrell and Cody will work their magic in order to get Johnston across the chalk.
+53.5 Total Match Points: Five of the last six games between these two sides has seen the overs total salute. Both sides like to play footy and on a Saturday afternoon, dry deck, attacking teams, I am expecting a high scoring game.
