AFL Round 22 Preview & Betting Tips
St Kilda vs Richmond
Marvel Stadium, Sunday 3.20pm (AEST)
The Saints suffered a disappointing loss to the Blues in Round 21 and will be desperate to bounce back, likely needing to win two of their three remaining games to compete in the 2023 finals series. Luckily, for what seems like the first time all season, they will be at full strength heading into the Sunday clash against the Tigers.
Seb Ross and Tim Membrey come back into the side in place of Anthony Caminiti and Ryan Byrnes, which give the Saints some invaluable experience through the midfield and another key target up forward.
St Kilda looked the better side for two and a half quarters against the Blues on Sunday but couldn’t close out the game, conceding the last six goals of the game to go down by 19 points. Given their horror run of form in the back half of the season, amazingly, they still find themselves in the eight and with their destiny in their own hands.
The Tigers were beaten comfortably on Friday night football by the Western Bulldogs, going down by 55 points at Marvel Stadium. They conceded nine goals in the first quarter and never closed the margin to less than 30 points for the remainder of the game.
The Tigers will get some much needed experience back in the line-up this week, with Dustin Martin and Dylan Grimes returning from injury. Jacob Hopper will come out of the side after suffering a concussion in the loss to the Bulldogs.
The Saints start as slight 2.5 point favourites at Marvel Stadium and I like them at that line. They are back to full strength and Tim Membrey should provide that key link man they have been sorely missing over the last few months.
They were running over the top of the Tigers in their earlier meeting this season before wet weather turned the game in Richmond’s favour. Back the Saints to keep their season alive with a win under the roof.

Brad Crouch 25+ Disposals - Crouch has been one of the premier ball winners in the competition this season, ranking 16th in the league for disposals per game with 27.8. Has cleared the 25 disposal mark in his last 10 straight games.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera 25+ Disposals - Wanganeen-Milera averages 23.6 disposals per game this season and has cleared the 25 disposal mark in three of his last five.
Cooper Sharman 1+ Goal - I think Sharman gets a little less attention with Tim Membrey back in the side and with Membrey’s ability to get up the ground, we could see Sharman staying a little closer to goal alongside Max King. Has kicked at least one in four of his last five games.
