Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday June 15th 2024

June 14th 2024, 12:58pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Sandown Racing Tips

Sandown Hillside will provide racegoers with metropolitan racing in Victoria on Saturday with gallopers likely running on a Soft6 surface. There was 10mls of rain around the area during the week ensuring a bit of give in the ground for the horses but none is expected on race day. It's a tough program but I have found a favourite, an each-way chance and a roughie to consider for the afternoon’s punt. Race one starts at 11:55am (AEST) and my three best plays of the afternoon are below.

Also, make sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips from the key meetings around the country this Saturday!

Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday, June 15th 2024

Race 4: Evergreen Turf Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)

(5) Batrana was wide at Caulfield last start when battled away for 3rd beaten less than 1L and from a better barrier this time in 5 should be hard to beat. She will be better for having her second look at this track and she did win a strong trial last month. She might want a track upgrade to a Soft5 and with no rain around as I type that might be a possibility. I reckon she will sit midfield here and Coffey will hook her out at the right time.

(4) Herecomesthestar will want the track to stay a Soft6 and she will be strong to the line and she has won at this track previously. She tackles 1300m for the first time but it looks as though it will suit.

(2) Flying Fizz gets the claim for Kennedy but all of her wins have been on a Good surface. Might pay to follow for when there is a Dry track. Is fit now though and can Place.

(5) Batrana

$3.80 (3 Units)

Race 8: Tile Importer Handicap - 4:05pm (AEST)

(13) So Risque has remained at the $7.00 quote since markets opened which has surprised me but is very consistent and should run to 3. He has finished in the top 3 on 17 of 28 occasions and last start was on the inside part of the track at his track when the horses running on down the middle were the ones you wanted to be on. There isn’t as much early pace on in this race and I think he will sit around 4t in the run and be very hard to beat. He loves this distance and has won twice at Hillside before.

(8) Windstorm ran on very well last start in the same race as So Risque and has won 4 from 6 starts on the Soft. He has been racing well since going to the Bedggood stable and he also loves this distance.

(1) Gentleman Roy ran poorly last time despite being in the slow lane of the track (9th). He will be on pace and the Hayes Team wouldn’t nominate him if he wasn’t right.

(13) So Risque E/W

$7.00/$2.65 (1 Unit)

Race 9: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 4:35pm (AEST)

(12) Wyclif ran on well at Caulfield after being in 10th position at the 400m mark. He ended up finishing in 7th but was beaten less than 2L on the line despite being in the slow going. This is an easier race, he goes alright when second up and he gets barrier 6 this time after having a wide one in 11 last start. Hefel has won on him previously and he is 1 from 1 over the 1800m. He is double figure odds and looks a nice each way play to finish off the program.

(4) Jimmy The Bear rises in distance and may lead this field. The worry here is leading all of the way in the last race of the day can be tough and he may be a sitting duck. He missed the kick and got back last start and that's not where he usually is so forgive that run.

(7) Dashing is a last start Caulfield winner who must go in. Runs better on Dry tracks but will be on pace and be in this for a long way.

(12) Wyclif E/W

$13.00/$4.20 (0.5 Units)
