Tough start to the EPL season for Before You Bet and followers as we missed on all three bets in Week 1. We’ll look to bounce back from the slow start as we preview some of the key games in the Week 2 slate below!
EPL Week 2 Betting Tips
Arsenal vs Burnley (Saturday 9.30pm AEST)
Arsenal will host Burnley in the opening game of the round at 9.30pm on Saturday night. Both sides got their 2019/20 campaign off to a winning start in Week 1 as Arsenal downed Newcastle away from home and Burnley defeated Southampton at Turf Moor. Arsenal will be at Emirates Stadium this Saturday night for their home opener and will start as favourites against the Clarets.
The Gunners controlled the majority of possession in their Week 1 game against Newcastle but struggled to find the back of the net until striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the eventual winner in the 58th minute. Their defence held firm as Newcastle fired off nine shots on the counter attack.
Burnley was fantastic in their opening game against Southampton at home. Their offence was on point in the second half as they scored in the 63rd, 70th and 75th to claim a dominant Week 1 win. We think they are great value on the road against Arsenal here, especially with the double chance.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham United (Sunday 12am AEST)
West Ham had the tough task of hosting Manchester City in their opening game and no one could blame them for being completely overwhelmed by the dominant City attack. They were beaten 5-0 in the season opener, with Raheem Sterling scoring a brilliant hat-trick.
Brighton got their season off to a hot start with a 3-0 away win against Watford. We aren’t reading into that win too much as Watford were absolutely deplorable in the loss. Brighton will be back at Amex Stadium for their first time this season and start as $2.40 favourites.
Despite the 3-0 win in Week 1, we don’t see Brighton as much more than a bottom five team this season. They won just six of their 19 games at home last season and regardless of the 5-0 loss to Manchester, West Ham have a solid side with bona-fide match winners. We think they are great value here.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday 2.30am AEST)
The game of the round sees Manchester City hosting Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday morning. Manchester City were dominant in their Week 1 game against West Ham, kicking off the new year right where they left off last season. Raheem Sterling scored a brilliant hat-trick in the win as Manchester maintained 57% possession and fired a whopping nine shots on target.
While Tottenham captured a win in Week 1, it wasn’t nearly as convincing as Manchester’s. The Spurs looked destined for a 1-1 draw in the late stages of their game against Aston Villa before star striker Harry Kane slotted two late goals in the 86th and 90th minute to give Tottenham a 3-1 win.
Tough to look past Manchester City at home here. They have lost just two total games at home in the past two seasons combined and have lost just one of their last seven games against Tottenham.
