Australia vs New Zealand (Saturday, 7.45pm AEST)
It’s been a great year for Perth sports fans and they’ll be treated to game 1 of the Bledisloe Cup at Optus Stadium on Saturday night. The question as always when these two sides meet will be: Is this the year the Wallabies finally beat the All Blacks? Ultimately, you’d be a brave punter to back against anything but a massive win by the All Blacks. 2018 saw three meetings between the Wallabies and the All Blacks, with New Zealand outscoring them 115-45. To make matters worse for the Wallabies, David Pocock will miss this clash as Australia needs him 100% for the upcoming World Cup. Thus far in the Rugby Championship, Australia rebounded from a disappointing performance in South Africa with a thrilling win over Argentina at Suncorp. While for the All Blacks, they took down the Pumas in Argentina and played in an epic draw against Springboks two weeks ago. Both sides do have an eye on the Rugby World Cup in terms of squad selection but we can see the All Blacks making a statement against their rivals once again. They’re 9-1 SU in the last 10 meetings and pumped the Wallabies 38-13 in the last meeting on Australian soil.
Argentina vs South Africa (Sunday 5.40am AEST)
This should be a fierce battle in Argentina as Pumas get set for a clash against the Springboks this Sunday. Both sides have played great Rugby against the All Blacks in this tournament so we’re expecting a very close affair on Sunday morning. For the home side, they’ll be looking to rebound from a close loss in Australia and they’ll take confidence into this matchup against South Africa. The Pumas have won 2 of the last 3 at home against them, including a 32-19 in the last meeting. Meanwhile, the Springboks played in an exciting draw against the All Blacks last time out. Herschel Jantjies continued his red-hot try-scoring form with the game-winner against NZ, with just 50 seconds left. Overall, South Africa do hold an 11-2 SU record in Argentina. However, as mentioned above, that is starting to turnaround with the Pumas building a stronger side of late. So in a tight battle, we can see Argentina keeping this one close and maybe surprising the Springboks with an upset.
