ESEA MDL Season 31 Australia continues with its 3rd week of competition, with more exciting matches to be played in the upcoming days. In this article we will look over three matches, give our insight and predictions on how they will go.
ESEA MDL Season 31 Australia Week 3 Preview Betting Tips
Grayhound vs Chiefs
Grayhound will take on Chiefs which will mark the 8th head-to-head match between these two teams. The match will be played on Nuke.
Grayhound are coming into the match off an IEM tournament in Sydney, where they managed to record wins against Heroic and FaZe Clan. They also managed to take a map from Fnatic, but were eventually eliminated on the third map. Nonetheless, they deserve some credit as it was quite a result for a semi-pro team!
Their opponents, Chiefs were also present at the IEM Sydney 2019, but they managed only one BO3 win against the Chinese side ViCi Gaming. Just like Grayhound, they took a map off Fnatic, but got crushed 16:4 on the third map and forced to go home.
As for our prediction, we cannot ignore the fact Grayhound managed to win all matches against Chiefs this year, however, they have never played on Nuke, which is a map that both teams are comfortable on.
Sure, Grayhound might be in better form, but I believe there is not a lot that separates these two teams. The match looks like a toss-up and the value odds for Chiefs are definitely worth a shot.
Fanta vs Ground Zero
Fanta are a new team filled with inexperienced players I have never even heard about, which ultimately means there are not a lot of results to look at. The only match they "won" so far was against Grayhound, where they “won” only because Grayhound forfeited it. The only other match in their record is a 16-12 loss to Jade, a team of similar calibre.
Ground Zero on the other side are not in the best form, but at least they have players that are more experienced and are somewhat known in the Australia CS scene. They finished ESL Pro League Season 9 Asia campaign in the last place, losing all three BO3 games without winning a single map (2-0 against AVANT, Chiefs and Grayhound). On the bright side, they won their last match in the ESEA MDL Season 31 Australia against ex-Breakaway and their previous match against Chiefs, which was ended up being a really close one.
In conclusion, neither of these two teams are in great shape, but the roster quality of Ground Zero should be too much for Fanta to handle. The match will be played on Dust2 where I believe Ground Zero should be able to "outfrag" their opponents and end the game quite early. Bet on quality and experience to end this one quickly.
Genuine vs Paradox
Genuine Gaming are coming into the match off a 16-10 loss against Grayhound just a couple of days ago. The match was played on Inferno and it was quite close in the first half of the match, as Genuine even managed to take an 8-7 lead at Half Time. Sadly they were completely outclassed as CTs and barely managed to win two rounds. The main reason why Genuine lost was their inability to stop Christopher 'dexter' Nong, who finished the match with above 100 ADR.
Paradox Gaming come into the next match in a good form, winning five out of five last matches played, but it is worth noting that four of those wins came on Mirage, which is probably their best and most played map. Although they failed to progress at the ESL Pro League Season 9 Asia, they at least finished their campaign with a 2-1 against their countryman rivals, Atletico.
There are no past encounters between these two teams. The first played map between them will be Inferno, which slightly favours Genuine, as they play it quite often. Still, there is not a lot that separates them in terms of skill which makes this one a 50/50. We recommend you take advantage of value odds on Paradox, as they have a legitimate chance of an upset!
