There were quite a few upsets in the three ATP tournaments last week that made it a difficult slate to predict. However, we’ve got three more chances to get wins this week with ATP Rotterdam (500), ATP New York (250), and ATP Buenos Aires (250) all set to get underway. We provide previews and betting tips for all three events below. Good luck to everyone following!
ATP Betting Tips
ATP Rotterdam (Netherlands)
The Rotterdam Open (also known as the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament) was first held in 1972 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It plays on an indoor hard court at the Ahoy Rotterdam and is worth 500 ATP ranking points. It was last won by Roger Federer in 2018 after he defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-2 in the final. It was the third time Federer has lifted the trophy, however, he’s not put his name down for the draw in 2019.

There’s a stacked field in Rotterdam this week with eight top 25 ranked players in the world drawn to play. In the top half we really like the draw of number one seed Kei Nishikori. He’s got a really soft draw up until the semi-finals where he’ll likely meet Milos Raonic, who’s our second best pick for this tournament. Other potential hurdles in the top half include Denis Shapovalov and floaters Tomas Berdych and Stan Wawrinka. All three of those men are in Raonic’s quarter, which is why we like Nishikori so much here.
In the bottom half of the draw we’ve got a whole host of talented youngsters including Karen Khachanov, Daniil Medvedev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The latter is still coming off his Australian Open high, while Medvedev will likely be fatigued from his winning run at ATP Sofia, and Khachanov has simply been out of form. There’s just too many variables in the bottom half for us to take and interest this week. David Goffin is the other chance from the bottom half, while Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has shown a resurgence recently.
It’s certainly a stacked field at ATP Rotterdam this week, but after taking a long look at the current form and draw of the top players here, we see Kei Nishikori as the best value. He’s got the easiest draw and will benefit from other top players playing gruelling matches early on in the week.

ATP New York (USA)
The New York Open is entering its second year on the ATP Tour after its inaugural 2018 event. It’s played on an indoor hard court at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York, United States. The New York Open was won by South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in 2018, as he defeated home town hero Sam Querrey in the final in three tight sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-6).

The 28-strong field in New York this week includes three Aussie hopefuls in number four seed John Millman, seventh seed Jordan Thompson, and Bernard Tomic. All three men feature in the top half of the draw, with Millman being our best hope. In terms of our tournament favourites, we really like the draw of American Steve Johnson. He’s one of those players that beats the players he should and loses to the ones ranked above him. He’s got a really soft draw with only Frances Tiafoe standing in his way to the final, who we expect to see a bit of drop in intensity after his Australian Open heroics. The bookies favourite here is John Isner, who sees himself in the opposite half to our pick in Johnson. Isner has a reasonably soft draw, although we simply can’t take him at his current odds given the form he’s in.
ATP Buenos Aires (Argentina)
The Argentina Open was established in 1921 and originally known as the Argentine Championships. It’s one of the oldest tournaments on the ATP Tour and has gone through many changes since its inception. It’s currently played on clay courts at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, which is situated in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 2018 edition was won by Austrian Dominic Thiem in a straight sets final over Slovenian Aljaz Bedene (6-2, 6-4).

There’s a top heavy draw at Buenos Aires this week with four stand out chances set to hit the clay courts. Diego Schwartzman of Argentina will have the fans behind him and is a reasonable hitter on clay, however we just can’t take him at his odds in such a strong field. The Italian duo of Fabio Fognini and Marco Cecchinato also bring strong clay court resumes into this event, but both have had poor 2019 campaigns to date. Number one seed and clearly the best hitter on clay in this event is Dominic Thiem from Austria. Thiem struggled with injury/fatigue in the Autralian Open, but in much more suitable conditions and back on his preferred surface we expect him to be far too strong for his competition here.
