Another good day for our MLB betting tips on Tuesday as we hit on two out of three bets. That makes for a 6-5 record over the last four days of tipping but we’ll be aiming to add a few more wins here as we preview the key games in the MLB this Wednesday, the 9th of August.
Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays (9am AEST)
The ESPN televised game of the day sees the Red Sox square off against the Rays in Tampa Bay. The Sox are coming off a great win on Wednesday as Chris Sale dominated the Rays line-up, shutting them out in a two hit performance. Reigning Cy Young award winner Rick Porcello will be on the mound Thursday and has a great record against the Rays.
Porcello has begun to pitch well through his last few starts after a shaky season and he should have the advantage over right hander Jake Odorizzi, who will be making his first start since coming off the DL with a lower back strain. The Sox offence didn’t get the runs on the board Wednesday but dominated Tampa Bay in nearly every other aspect, notching up 12 hits and leaving 21 on base. Should be too strong for the Rays here.
TIP: Boston Red Sox to win - $1.80 at Ladbrokes
Chicago Cubs at San Francisco Giants (5.45am AEST)
Early game for us Aussie fans but a great matchup that sees Madison Bumgarner going up against Kyle Hendricks. Bumgarner has once again been lights out this year, with a 2.88 ERA, he just hasn’t had the run support in his 9 starts, maintaining just a 1-5 record. Still has the pedigree while the Giants offence came to life Wednesday in a 6-3 win over the Cubs.
Buster Posey is at his damaging best, leading the Giants offence along with Joe Panik. As good as Hendricks as been this year with a 3.81 ERA but like his opponent has had limited starts through injury. Cant look past the home team with a top five pitcher on the mound here.
TIP: San Francisco Giants to win - $2 at CrownBet
Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks (11.40am AEST)
Another great matchup here both on offence and defence. Two National League Cy Young contenders in Alex Wood and Zack Greinke will be on the mound for the Dodgers and Diamondbacks respectively here as both teams aim to improve on their already impressive records.
The Dodgers in particular have been decimating teams of late and hold a MLB best 79-32 record, much on the back of Wood’s 2.33 ERA and 13-1 record through 17 starts. Greinke has also been fantastic on the year with a 13-4 record through 22 starts. Should be a good pitchers duel here and we are happy to take the under on runs.
TIP: Total runs under 8.5 - $1.91 at Ladbrokes
