In the matchup of the day, the Wild visit the Capitals at the Verison Center. Both teams still stand on top of their conferences, but consistent winning has come to a halt for the time being. Minnesota have spilt the last ten games with their last outing a loss against a rallying Chicago. Fortunately, Devon Dubnyk will start in this crucial game against DC.
The Caps had a horror run in their completed road trip after dropping a home game to Dallas. They are coming off the back of playing three games in three days and had tough losses to the Sharks, Kings and Ducks. They now face the possibility of losing their fifth game straight. The Caps need to start producing more offense and that might come down to experience - when the veterans play well so do the Caps. Alex Ovechkin hasn't scored in ten matches and would love to get on the score sheet against the Wild.

Chicago Blackhawks at Montreal Canadiens (Wednesday, March 15th at 10:35am AEST)
The Blackhawks are once again making a late run to the playoffs after an outstanding February saw them drop only one game, while that form has continued into March. The defense has been unstoppable with Crawford showing why he is one of the best goalies in the league. He stopped 44 shots against the Wild last game and will now back this up against the Habs in Montreal. Chicago has won their past six against Montreal, with two of those victories being at the Bell Center.
The Canadiens were in offensive struggles just over a week ago, but have pulled it together after the media were starting to wonder will this be like 2015? They still top the table in the Atlantic division and recently managed a 4-1 win over Edmonton. They are still finding ways to score and are showing that they have enough depth to contend in the playoffs. Paul Byron has been hot, scoring half of the Canadiens goals in their recent road trip. He will have to stay hot if this team wants to fight off cross town rivals Ottawa who are on their tail. Unfortunately, this one against the Blackhawks might prove too tough. Chicago look the value here.

Buffalo Sabres at San Jose Sharks (Wednesday, March 15th at 1:35pm AEST)
Buffalo will have their work cut out against a flying Sharks team. The Sabres are 2-6-2 in their past ten and sit seventh in the Atlantic Division. Time is running out with the team still eight points behind the wild card position, but a win here could tighten a few things up. Buffalo are 11-17-6 away this year but have had great success over the Sharks in recent times. They have won the past four out of five against San Jose which puts some type of pressure on this upcoming contest.
The Sharks are first in their division - still a staggering seven points clear of a red hot Calgary. They are coming off victories over Dallas and the Caps and are tough to beat at home with a 22-8-4 record. The way San Jose are winning at home we should see them claim this home game unless Buffalo can cause a huge upset.
