It was good to have Aussie basketball back last week as it was an interesting start to the 2016-17 NBL season. We managed a couple of hander winners with our NBL betting tips and hopefully find a few more with our 2016-17 NBL Round 2 Preview and Betting Tips.
2016-17 NBL Round 2 Betting Tips
Illawarra Hawks Vs Sydney Kings (Thursday, October 13th at 7:30pm)
The Illawarra Hawks have put the rest of the league on notice after defeating the Adelaide 36ers by a staggering 34 points. Imports Clarke and Harris were stars for the Hawks scoring a combined 44 points, 13 assists and 4 boards.
The Kings, meanwhile, fell short against the Brisbane Bullets after they failed to capitalize in the later stages of the game. They looked dangerous at times, but couldn't get the job done.
This one looks fairly simple - Illawarra at home should rocket passed the Kings.
Tip: Illawarra Hawks at the line (-4.5) - $1.90 at CrownBet
+ Total Game Score Over 185.5 - $1.85 at CrownBet
Adelaide 36ers Vs Melbourne United (Friday, October 14th at 7:30pm)
Melbourne United are the favourites to win the 2016-2017 NBL season and i’m not sure how considering they're playing woeful basketball. That's maybe an over-reaction considering Melbourne had an interrupted preseason with some of their key players attending Rio. Give them some time and they'll find a way to gel and perhaps be deserving of the short odds.
The 36ers got man handled by the Hawks in Round 1 before two days later travelling to Melbourne and knocking off last season's minor premiers the Melbourne United. The 36ers led for the entire game with United only making a late charge in the 4th. This one will be interesting. We’re expecting a tight game with Melbourne United again leaving disappointed.
Tip: Adelaide 36ers to win - $2.00 at CrownBet
Perth Wildcats Vs New Zealand Breakers (Friday, October 14th at 9:30pm)
In the first Grand Final rematch for the 2016-2017 season, the Wildcats are firm favourites. The advantage for the Wildcats comes from this being a home game. In round one they lost to the Brisbane Bullets before going into extra time against a side many believed wouldn't win a game.
NZ, however, defeated Melbourne United and will still be feeling the pain of losing to the Wildcats last season. This one will be fantastic to watch and I believe excruciatingly close.
Tip: Either team by less than 7 points - $2.45 at CrownBet
+ Total Game Score Over 156.5 - $1.85 at Ladbrokes
Brisbane Bullets Vs Adelaide 36ers (Sunday, October 16th at 7pm)
The Bullets came in guns blazing during Round 1. After trailing by 10 points at half time it certainly looks as if their NBL homecoming was headed for disaster. After the break they were a different team, however, out-scoring the wildcats 42-25 for an eventual 72-65 victory. While their game against Sydney was a tighter affair, Brisbane had the momentum throughout the game and always looked in control.
The 36ers schedule has been jam-packed so far this season. Currently sitting 1-1, they look likely to enter this one 2-1. Adelaide import Jerome Randle showed he has more in the tank with a simply aggressive performance. If Randle can keep up his intensity, the 36ers shouldn't have many issues moving forward. Happy to take them with a bit of a head start.
Tip: Adelaide 36ers at the line (+4.5) - $1.90 at CrownBet
