Victorian racing on Friday night heads back to Moonee Valley, where nine races have been set down. The track as of Wednesday evening is a Good 4 and the track should be in fine order after racing last week. Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday December 6 2024
Race 5: Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Heat 8 955m - 8.15pm AEDT
(4) Lascars is a short course specialist, he goes well fresh and has a good racing style. He resumes, having not raced since June 9 at Swan Hill when on speed and fighting hard but just couldn't quite see it through when a close up fifth. Maddie Lloyd gets on well with the horse and he has jumped out nicely for the return.
(1) Old Time Rock commands respect for me. He ran over 955m at The Valley last time out where he was badly held up behind tired runners when having something to offer when fourth to Grand Larceny, beaten over a length. If the breaks go his way here, he can take this out for sure.
(5) Flying Ace is on the seven day back up after resuming at this track/distance last Friday night when looking in need of the run, finishing down the track behind impressive winner Bold Print, who would be a clear favourite here. Better for the run, kind map, he rates highly.
(4) Lascars
$20.50 (1 Unit)
Race 7: Concrete Republic Handicap 1600m - 9.15pm AEDT
(3) Presser comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Nov 2 at Morphettville over the mile when on speed and tried hard but couldn't quite see it through, run down late by Hasseltoff. Tricky draw but a good racing style and has solid enough form lines around him.
(1) King's Capital should appreciate a rise in trip for Team Hayes. He resumed over 1350m on Donald Cup Day where he looked in need of the run when midfield behind talented mare Flying Fizz, not getting the clearest of paths. Gets in well after the claim, good upside, rates highly.
(2) Play On Words looks the leader and with front end control, he can run a positive race, as seen on Kilmore Cup Day when leading and giving a strong kick but just couldn't quite see it through when third. If he leads and gets a cheap furlong or two, he takes running down.
(3) Presser
$3.25 (3 Units)
Race 8: Simpson Construction Handicap 2040m - 9.45pm AEDT
(6) Autumn Storm is short enough but he does look the one to beat. He ran over this trip three weeks ago when getting the beaut run in transit just off the speed and loomed to win when presented but found one better in Rise To It. Racing well and strikes a race where the depth isn't overly deep.
(10) Placentia Bay has done little wrong in a five start career and is one of the key threats, perhaps the only threat. He was on speed throughout two weeks ago at this track/distance and fought hard, hailed as the winner for a few strides but was beaten a lip. Good racing style, he appeals.
(7) Chimed ran a close up fourth in the same race Placentia Bay contested. He tried to make a sustained run from off the speed and drove hard but just missed out when a close up fourth. Tricky draw, but hard to knock the way he's racing.
(6) Autumn Storm
$2.85 (5 Units)
