PGA Tour: RSM Classic Betting Tips
Sea Island Resort, Saint Simond Island, Georgia. Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th November
This weekend marks the final event of the FedExCup Fall, meaning it is the last chance for players still hoping to earn their PGA Tour card for next season to earn the all-important points needed. As such, the star power in the field will be slightly limited, as the top players in the world opt to let the hopefuls battle it out in Georgia.
The Field
A host of players sitting around the coveted top 125 rankings needed to earn their PGA Tour card for next season will be teeing it up this week. Wesley Bryan (125), Joel Dahmen (124), Sam Ryder (122) and Henrik Norlander (126) are all right on the cusp and will need to perform well this weekend.
Headlining the field will be the No.5 ranked player in the world Ludvig Aberg, who won the RSM Classic for his maiden PGA Tour title last season and will be looking to add another trophy to the case. Other past winners in Georgia include Adam Svensson, Talor Gooch, Robert Streb, Tyler Duncan and Mackenzie Hughes.
The Course
Built originally as a nine-hole course all the way back in 1929, the Sea Island Golf Club was redesigned by Tom Fazio in 1999 and was added to the PGA Tour rotation in 2011. The course plays as a pretty standard 7,005 yard, Par 70 but the Seaside Course isn’t the only one golfers will play at the RSM Classic.
Entrants in the tournament will play one of their first two rounds at the Sea Island GC’s ther course, the Plantation Course. The little wrinkle adds a bit of interest in the tournament, although both courses are pretty easy as far as PGA Tour standards go.
Betting Tips
Austin Eckroat ($34/Top 30 $2.05)
T6 at the Wyndham Championship preceded a strong string of finishes at the FedEx Cup events including a T18 at St. Jude and a T46 at the BMW. However, all of that was just a precursor to his fantastic win at the World Wide Technology Championship a few weeks ago, where he shot 68, 67, 66 and 63 to lift the trophy. Has not shot over par in his last 8 rounds.
Mackenzie Huges ($36/Top 30 $2.10)
Has been on a run of strong form lately, making the cut in his last nine straight tournaments including a T4 at the Procore and a T8 at the Sanderson Farms Championship within the last few months. It’s largely been feast or famine for Huges at the RSM over his career, missing the cut 4/8 times, but finishing in the top two on three occasions.
