The 2024 Paris Olympics is fast approaching and with that, the anticipation is growing, with this games tipped to be one of the best in recent history, with quality seemingly as high as ever in a number of key events. Down below is our preview of key events and the likely winners!
2024 Paris Olympics – Gold Medal Best Bets!
Golf
Barring a shocker at the 18th at Royal Troon in The Open, Scottie Scheffler was right in the mix but that hole made his final position worse than what it really should have been. Xander Schauffele won Gold for the USA at Tokyo but the best player in the world is clearly Scheffler and with $5 available for him, despite the quality of the field, that does seem great value to my eye given how consistent he has been over the last 2-3 years.
TIP: Scottie Scheffler Gold Medal ($5 at Bet365)
Tennis
It's hard to get away from Carlos Alcaraz. He's the next one in line to potentially have the 'GOAT' tag given he is just 21 and already has several Grand Slam wins next to his name, most recently winning his second straight Wimbledon title. He is clearly the one to beat, though he will have stiff competition from Jannik Sinner, who has pushed him to five sets on occasion. They look the two to beat, but it's hard seeing Alcaraz getting rolled.
TIP: Carlos Alcaraz Gold Medal ($2.62 at Bet365)
Men's 100m
The market says it's a race in two but it potentially could be a race in one via Jamaican Kishane Thompson. He is yet to run on the world stage or Olympics but his deeds in the Jamaican Championships were stunning, highlighted by a 9.77. His main danger and the other key chance is Noah Lyles, who recently ran a 9.81 at a Diamond League event, so he is ticking along really nicely towards Paris. He is the current world champion and has the runs on the board.
TIP: Kishane Thompson Gold Medal ($2.10 at Bet365)
Women's Long Jump
This event is all about Malaika Mihambo. The German is the best in the world and if she is fit and firing, she's the one and the $1.70/thereabouts could well be a gift. She's an Olympic champion, a two-time world champion and was a recent winner of the European title, her third win at that level. She recently had Covid but bounced back to her best with a recent win at the Diamond League in London. Her best is better than anyone else and confident she gets the job done.
TIP: Malaika Mihambo Gold Medal ($1.70 at BoomBet)
Men's Shot Put
Ryan Crouser is aiming to create history by becoming the first athlete to win Gold in this event in three Olympics. He won at Rio and Tokyo and despite a recent defeat in the London Diamond League, he is clearly the one to beat. Leonardo Fabbri beat him in that event, but he did comfortably beat Fabbri in the world indoor championships earlier in the year. His personal best, and second personal best, is far better than anyone else set to take their place. The one for me.
TIP: Ryan Crouser Gold Medal ($1.60 at BoomBet)
Men's 400m
Brit Matthew Hudson-Smith, I think, is a near good thing here. Events like this, it is all about timing the prep to be spot on for the Grand Final and he seems to have done that. He set a new European record of 44.07 in Oslo back in May but went much better at the London Diamond League, clocking 43.74, where he beat most of his key rivals. He's $2+ to win and for mine, that does seem pretty good value.
TIP: Matthew Hudson-Smith Gold Medal ($2.10 at BoomBet)
