Warwick Farm is the venue for a soggy Sydney on Wednesday with the track rating likely to be a Heavy 10 for punters. There may be a few scratching’s on race morning so it will pay to monitor those at your earliest convenience.
Brendan Bunworth’s three best bets for the program are below, with the first of seven races starting at 12:50 (AEST). You can also head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips from around the country this week!
Warwick Farm Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 8th 2024
Race 4: Petaluma Handicap - 2:35pm (AEST)
(5) Cabaca has been the runner-up in two of her last three starts and she should be ready to fire after going down by less than a length on both of those occasions. At Launceston on March 22nd, she settled handy before getting overtaken late and then she went back further to midfield before getting done by a nose. Her last start on rain-affected ground as at Caulfield two starts back and she got right back before running on quite well for 7th behind Legacies, so she should be able to handle conditions.
(4) Mr Buster has drawn inside and that might aid him if the rails are on. He ran on well at this track on April 1 and will only be fitter now.
(1) Tajawal gets a 1.5kg claim which will help and he might run well first up. Has been in the money on 6 of 7 occasions.
(5) Cabaca

Race 5: Exceedance @ Vinery Stud Handicap - 3:10pm (AEST)
(2) Ringarosa is first up here and she has won 2 from 4 starts when first up previously. Schiller steers for the first time and may go back early. Her last prep was just fair when going back in her races but the one before that she showed plenty of ability running on at Warwick Farm and Newcastle for victories. Schiller will want the pace on so he can let down late.
(3) Akaka Falls gets a 3kg claim and he is a horse that usually runs on too. Wadick is on top again and he has won twice on Akaka. Carrying 60kg last start at Orange he looked very good winning when gobbling them up over the last 100m.
(10) Tai Lung goes well fresh and has won 2 from 3 on Heavy tracks. Two starts back at Nowra (Heavy) he sat 2nd before winning and from barrier 4 he might settle up there again.
(2) Ringarosa
$3.60 (2 Units)
Race 6: Schweppes Handicap - 3:45pm (AEST)
(9) The Replicant is good odds here I reckon. He is a horse that loves Heavy tracks and with a bit of pace in the race he can run on strongly to finish top three. He has won 3 races and placed 12 times from 23 starts so each-way might be the way to go here. He is first up from a six-month spell and has previously placed twice from four attempts. Hyeronimous takes the ride and he knows the horse which is a plus and he has trialed twice in the last three weeks at this track so is very familiar with it now after having a rest.
(11) Tannenburg has drawn wide in 11 and is having his first try on the Heavy. He ran on well to break his maiden at Canterbury so he is another who may be strong late.
(1) Huesca has been racing consistently and will go forward in this race. One of the most talented horses in the race but hasn’t impressed on Heavy tracks yet.
(9) The Replicant E/W
$14.00/$4.00 (0.5 Units)
